By the grace of Hashem,

To the youth leaders of the Chabad* association,

the Gan Yisrael* summer camp group and

the Shabbos* afternoon recreational group and

day camp, in Montreal, may Hashem grant you long life,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 26 Menachem Av*, informing me very briefly of the end of the sessions (note 1: In the summer camps cited in the heading). Of course, I am very astonished and surprised that you do not tell me how they went. May Hashem grant that you complete all this at the next opportunity. One transmits to me news that does not bring satisfaction. One does so out of necessity, but in any event one transmits it. How much more so, therefore, must one do so for what causes satisfaction. You know that the Alter Rebbe* already complained about such an attitude, yet you adopt it nonetheless.

May Hashem grant that each one continue his activity even after the conclusion of these sessions. Indeed, there is material and broad possibilities for spreading the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*), which is the inner point of these activities. You will do this with joy and enthusiasm.

We are approaching Elul* (note 3: See letter no. 6986), the month of compassion and a propitious time. Likkutei Torah* of the Alter Rebbe* explains that the thirteen Attributes of Divine Mercy shine then. You will therefore give me good tidings, in a visible and tangible good, of both your communal achievements and your personal concerns. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבם מכ"ו מנ"א עכ"פ ידיעה בקיצור הכי נמרץ מסיום המחזורים, ומובנת הפליאה והתמי' הכי גדולה על שאינם כותבים כלל איך שעברו המחזורים וכו' ויהי רצון שימלאו בהזדמנות הבאה.

ובאם מודיעים ע"ד דברים שאינם גורמים נחת רוח (בהכרח אבל בכ"ז הרי מודיעים), עאכו"כ שצריכים להודיע מדברים הגורמים נחת רוח וכידוע (ולמרות) שעוד רבנו הזקן התאונן על הנהגה הפכית.

ויהי רצון שימשיכו כאו"א בפעולות כהאמורות גם לאחרי סיום המחזורים, שהרי כר נרחב ושטח רחב בפעולות הפצת המעינות, שזוהי נקודה הפנימית של הפעולות ויעשו זה מתוך שמחה וטוב לבב.

וכיון שמתקרבים אנו לחדש אלול הוא חדש הרחמים ועת רצון וכמבואר בלקו"ת לרבנו הזקן שאז מאירים י"ג מדות הרחמים, הנה יבשרו טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה בענינים הכללים ובענינים הפרטים גם יחד.
