To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, Rav* Yaakov (note 1: Rav* Y. Jakobovitch, of Kiryat Gat),

I greet you and bless you,

I read with pleasure and satisfaction your letter of 22 Menachem Av*, in which you speak to me briefly about the holy Yeshivah* of Kiryat Gat, a branch of the Yeshivah* Tomchei Temimim* of Lod, as well as about the advancement in their studies of the students, to whom Hashem will grant long life. You also tell me that you are going to begin praying in the building of the Yeshivah*. You well understand the importance of all this, in light of what our Sages* say regarding the verse: "Hashem loves the gates (note 2: Shearim*, which can also be read as shiurim*, studies) of Tzion, of all the sanctuaries of Yaakov." May Hashem therefore grant that you give me good tidings of this, adding and illuminating, in accordance with the need and necessity of the moment. Without a doubt, He Who gives the revealed and the inner dimensions of the Torah* will multiply His blessing and His success for all those who work to strengthen and develop this holy Yeshivah*, so that they may do so in an ever-increasing manner, in calm, joy, and enthusiasm.

At a propitious moment, I will mention your name and that of the members of your family at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, in accordance with what you write to me. Without a doubt, the one who rests in this tomb will invoke great mercy in this matter. Such was, indeed, his sacred mission when he lived here below, since he founded Yeshivos*, filled with the fear of Hashem, providing an education based on sacred values, in every place he could reach. We are approaching Elul*, the month of compassion, and Likkutei Torah* explains that the thirteen Attributes of Divine Mercy shine then. May Hashem grant that this be revealed in a visible and tangible good, in your communal accomplishments and in your personal concerns. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

בנועם וענג קראתי מכתבו מכ"ב מנ"א, בו כותב עכ"פ ראשי פרקים מישיבה הק' קרית גת סניף לישיבה הק' תומכי תמימים דלוד, מהתקדמות התלמידים שליט"א בלימודיהם וכו' וכן אשר יתחילו גם בתפלה בדירת הישיבה.

וכבר ידוע גודל המעלה בזה ע"פ מרז"ל עה"פ אוהב ה' שערי ציון מכל משכנות יעקב.

ויהי רצון אשר יבשר טוב בהאמור ובאופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור מתאים לדרישת וגם הכרח השעה ובודאי שנותן התורה הנגלה והפנימית יוסיף בברכתו והצלחתו לכל אלו המשתדלים בביסוס והרחבת הישיבה הק' האמורה, שיוכלו עוד להוסיף בזה מתוך מנוחה ושמחה וטוב לבב.

ובעת רצון אזכירו ואת ב"ב שיחיו על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו, ובודאי שבעל הציון יעורר ר"ר על זה, שהרי זוהי היתה עבודתו בקדש בחיים חיותו בעלמא דין יסוד ישיבות ביראת שמים וחינוך על טהרת הקדש בכל מקום שידו מגעת.

ויהי רצון שכיון שמתקרבים אנו לחדש אלול הוא חדש הרחמים, וכמבואר בלקו"ת שאז מאירים י"ג מדות הרחמים, הנה יומשך זה בטוב הנראה והנגלה בענינים הכללים ובענינים הפרטים.
