To the Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and devotes himself

to communal needs, Rav* Chaim Baruch (note 1: Rav* Ch. B. Duchman, who had left the Soviet Union the previous year. See, concerning him, letter no. 6734),

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter of 19 Menachem Av*, with what was enclosed — good news about the Chassidim* who are there (note 2: In Russia). May Hashem grant that, always and every day, you give me good tidings of a visible and tangible good — of yourself, of the members of your family, of the Chassidim*, within all of Yisrael. And it will be so in an ever-increasing manner. This, of course, includes first and foremost an addition to your sacred mission of spreading the wellsprings (note 3: Of Chassidus*) in this manner (note 4: As set forth in letter no. 6734), until the outside. This is self-evident.

Regarding Chassidus*, you know the decision of the Heavenly Court according to which, because of the self-sacrifice that the Alter Rebbe* displayed (note 5: During his imprisonment in the Czarist prisons, which resulted in the liberation of 19 Kislev*) in all that concerns the Torah*, the fear of Hashem, and good conduct, those who are connected to him and follow his path would prevail. How much more so is this the case for such dissemination among scholars of the Torah*. It is known, indeed, the efforts the Alter Rebbe* made toward them from the moment he assumed the leadership of the Chassidim* and even before that, as my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us, relates. In anticipation of good tidings concerning all that has just been said,

ויהי רצון אשר תכה"י יבשר טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה, בהנוגע לעצמו וב"ב שי' ובהנוגע לאנ"ש בתכ"י, ויהי' זה באופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור, ובזה מובן ג"כ וג"ז עיקר - מההוספה בעבודתו בקדש להפיץ המעינות באופן הנ"ל עד לחוצה וד"ל.

ואם בכללות עניני החסידות ידוע פס"ד בית דין של מעלה, אשר - בגלל המסירות נפש הלזו (של אדה"ז) פסקו בבית דין של מעלה, אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה, עאכו"כ בענין ההפצה בין בני תורה, וכידוע ההשתדלות של אדמו"ר הזקן בזה בראשית נשיאותו ועוד מקודם לזה, וכמסופר מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
