By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter from Rosh Chodesh* Menachem Av*, with what was enclosed. I am surprised to note that, lately, the Chassidim* have taken to shortening their letters. It seems that during the year of Ufaratzta* (note 1: "And you shall spread forth to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south," according to the slogan chosen by the Rebbe for this year. See, on this subject, letter no. 6541), it has been decided to write in a manner contrary to this principle. May Hashem grant that in the forty days of this year that still separate us from Rosh Hashanah* (note 2: From 20 Av, the date of this letter), there be fulfilled what the Alter Rebbe* says at the end of chapter 9 of Iggeres HaTeshuvah*: "If one was accustomed to reading one page (note 3: One should read two)," in order to complete what should have been done this year — a complete year, with an additional month (note 4: A second Adar), a year of Shabbos* for Hashem (note 5: A Shemittah* year), a year of Ufaratzta*. Indeed, Hashem "fulfills the will of those who fear Him," but one must truly will it!

Following up on what you write in your letter, may Hashem grant that you give me good tidings and that you announce to me a profound change, in accordance with what has just been said. Devoting yourself to communal needs, you will also give me good tidings of this. Thus, the same will be true for your personal concerns. You will be in good health and you will soon settle down, finding a good match, materially and spiritually, very soon. With my blessing to give these good tidings,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו מר"ח מנ"א עם המצורף אליו ולפלא שלאחרונה התחילו כל אנ"ש לקצר במכתביהם וכנראה שדוקא בשנה דופרצת מתנהגים באופן הפכי בכתיבה וכו'.

ויהי רצון שבארבעים יום שבשנה זו (שקודם ר"ה הבע"ל) יהי' כמבואר באגרת התשובה לרבנו הזקן סוף פרק ט': הי' רגיל לקרות דף אחד וכו' בכדי להשלים את כל מה שהי' צריך להעשות בשנה זו, שנה תמימה ועבורה שנת שבתון לה' שנת ופרצת והרי השי"ת רצון יראיו יעשה, נאר מ'דארף וועלען אויף א אמת.

ויהי רצון בהמשך להענינים שכותב במכתבו שיבשר טוב בשינוי עיקרי בהתאם להכתוב לעיל, וכעוסק בצ"צ יבשר טוב בהם ומזה יומשך גם בעניניו הפרטים לבריאות ולהסתדרות בקרוב בשידוך טוב בגשמיות וברוחניות, בקרוב ממש.
