Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6926 — Chinuch
Volume 18 · Letter 425
By the grace of Hashem,
11 Tammuz* 5719,
Brooklyn,
I greet you and bless you,
I am responding to your letter of 4 Tammuz*, concerning your trip here during the month of Tishrei* (note 1: On the occasion of the Hakhel*, the gathering following the Shemittah* year). Now, the essential element is missing from your letter. Various texts explain, indeed, the importance of spreading the wellsprings (note 2: Of Chassidus*). It is quite clear that this is your primary mission, especially in light of the education you received and the conduct you observe in your parents, to whom Hashem will grant long life. Throughout all the years of their lives, they have spread the wellsprings of Chassidus*. Moreover, there are near you young men, among our Sephardic* brethren, to whom Hashem will grant long life, who have just come to know of these wellsprings. Their origin makes them connected to the inner dimension of the Torah* — they have been studying the Zohar* for a very long time. Your responsibility is thereby increased all the more, as is that of the former students and the sons of former students of the Yeshivah* of Russia, who presently associate with our Sephardic* brethren.
To my great pain, I have not been informed, until now, that such action has been carried out (note 3: Among the Sephardim). You yourself do not speak of it in your letter. No doubt you will complete all this in your next correspondence. May Hashem grant that there be good tidings, of a good that bears fruit in the domain of holiness and also of that which is connected to the vowel "u," as Chassidus* explains in the Likkutei Torah*, Shir HaShirim*, page 10d (note 4: Explaining that this is the highest form of good). We are on the eve of the festival of the liberation of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, whose merit protects us. He gave of himself for the spreading of the wellsprings. May Hashem therefore grant that merit be conferred upon these propitious days, in order to inspire a profound motivation in this matter, which will then be synthesized and lead to concrete action, and of which there will be good tidings. In anticipation of these good tidings,
For the Rebbe Shlita*,
the secretary,
Of course, what has just been said also applies to your friends, sons of the students of the Yeshivah* and Chassidim*.
