I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 27 Sivan* and I am pleased to note your interest in the work of Lubavitch, which strives to spread the light of the Torah* and the mitzvos* on the basis of sacred values. Accordingly, you will surely consider with attention the enclosed copy of a message from Parshas* Behaaloscha*. I hope it will be useful to you and will give rise to concrete actions. You do not tell me about your state of health and I deduce from this that all is well. May Hashem grant that you continue to improve.

You ask me whether it would be good to purchase houses in order to make them a source of revenue for the Beis Lubavitch* (note 2: Of London). Everything depends on the state of real estate in England at the present time, as well as on the conditions of purchase. If, according to your information, all this is suitable, Hashem will grant you great success. Regarding the shares you have held for a long time already, it does not seem good to me to sell them at half price. It is better to keep them until this transaction brings you a profit.

As for the transfer of your business to another location, you ask me whether it is justified to move to a more expensive area, which would entail greater expenses but would bring possibilities for development. You know my position in this matter. One must put into practice the terms of the statement: "I shall advance in expansiveness," all the more so since Hashem has suggested to you the good initiative of covering the expenses of the Beis Lubavitch*. One must therefore widen the channels that convey a greater blessing and a greater success emanating from Hashem. A portion of your earnings goes to the sacred cause I have mentioned (note 3: The Beis Lubavitch). Now, if the promise "Tithe in order to become wealthy" applies systematically, one must nevertheless intervene through the ways of nature, in order to widen the channels and the vessels. May Hashem grant that in changing the location of your business, you also change your mazal*, for good and for blessing.
