By the grace of Hashem,

I greet you and bless you,

I am responding to your letter, requesting my blessing. You indicate to me how your activity will be organized in the future. It is quite evident that you must continue, at the Yeshivah*, your studies of both the revealed dimension of the Torah* and Chassidus*. And, in accordance with the words of the Mishnah*, your fear of Hashem will precede your wisdom. Moreover, you are one of our brethren, the Sephardim*, who have adopted a particularly judicious custom — that of marrying at an age close to eighteen years. Now, you have already passed this age and you must therefore take interest in this matter, of course in the proper manner, according to the teaching of our Torah* and in a modest way. And our Sages* have emphasized that one who sanctifies himself somewhat here below receives an immense sanctification from above.

You ask me whether you should seek a good match or wait for one to present itself. Our Sages* clearly emphasize that a man must do so "as though he were seeking what he has lost." In addition to your study of the revealed dimension of the Torah* and Chassidus*, you surely maintain the three well-known studies of Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. With my blessing to give good tidings of all this,

בו כותב ע"ד המשך עניניו בעתיד, - ומובן וגם פשוט שעליו להמשיך ללמוד בישיבה תורת הנגלה והחסידות גם יחד מתאים להוראת המשנה, יראתו קודמת לחכמתו, וכיון שהוא מאחב"י הספרדים, אשר מנהגם מנהג טוב ונכון במאד, להתחתן בגיל שסמוך לשמונה עשרה, וכבר עבר גיל זה, עליו להתענין בזה, כמובן באופן המתאים ע"פ הוראת תורתנו בדרכי צניעות וכו' וכבר הודיעונו חז"ל אדם מקדש עצמו מעט למטה מקדשין אותו הרבה מלמעלה.

לשאלתו אם צריך לחפש בעניני שידוך או עד שיזדמן, הרי מפורש ברז"ל, שצריכה להיות כאדם המחזר אחר אבידתו.

בודאי נוסף על לימודו בנגלה וחסידות שומר גם שלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא הידועים.
