By the grace of Hashem,

1st day of Rosh Chodesh* Tammuz* 5719,

Brooklyn,

To the Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem and carries out

a sacred mission, Rav* Zalman Tuvya (note 1: Rav* Z. T. Abelski, of Kfar Chabad*) HaKohen,

I greet you and bless you,

I have duly received your letter of 26 Sivan*, with what was enclosed — a photograph of the students of your class, to whom Hashem will grant long life, a blessed progeny of Hashem. I have good hope that they know what is reported by our holy Torah*, Torah* of life: "Man was made in the image of Elokim*." Now, for this image to appear evidently on the face of a Jew, child or elder, he must put into practice the mitzvos* of Hashem and, first of all, devote himself to the study of the Torah*, "which is the equivalent of all the other Precepts."

Our Sages* say that nothing withstands the will. It is therefore certain that the decision of the students to adopt such conduct can be followed by effect and that they will know success in this matter. As our Sages* emphasize, "if you make efforts, they will be crowned with success." Their parents and their teachers will therefore derive from them much true satisfaction — a Jewish, traditional, and Chassidic* satisfaction. You will surely transmit my greetings to all those who appear in the photograph and, through their intermediary, to all the other Chabad* schools (note 2: Belonging to the educational network), Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt, very soon and in our days, by our righteous Moshiach*. With my blessing for success and to give good tidings of all this,

ותקותי חזקה, אשר יודעים הם על המסופר בתורתנו הקדושה תורת חיים, אשר בצלם אלקים עשה את האדם, ובכדי שיהי' הצלם ניכר על פני האיש הישראלי, נער או זקן, הרי זה על ידי קיום מצות האלקים, ולכל לראש - תלמוד תורה אשר שקול כנגד כולם.

וכיון שאמרו רז"ל, אשר אין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון, בודאי החלטת התלמידים להתנהג באופן האמור, יקיימוה גם בפועל ויצליחו, וכמאמר רבותנו ז"ל יגעת ומצאת,

והוריהם שי' והמורים שלהם שי' ירוו מהם רוב נחת אמיתי הוא נחת יהודי מסורתי חסידותי.

בודאי ימסור פרישת שלום שלי לכל אלו אשר באו בהתמונה, ועל ידם גם לשאר בתי ספר חב"ד אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש, אשר בארצנו הקדושה תבנה ותכונן במהרה בימינו על ידי משיח צדקנו.
