To the Rabbi, distinguished Chassid*, who fears Hashem,
Rav M. [1],

Greetings and blessings,

I reply to your letter of 10 Menachem Av. I have indeed received the two parts of the sicha* of Pesach* 5693 [2] and I thank you for them. Without doubt, and as you promised me, you will also send me all the other pamphlets that have been printed there [3].

I also thank you for having briefly given me news of the Chassidim* who are in your city. They have surely set a time to study the teachings of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, and they endeavor to involve in these studies those who, for the moment, are not yet Chassidim.

You know the saying of the Rebbe Rashab [4], according to which "the students of the Yeshivah are lights, destined to illuminate." Divine Providence has led you to a place where you are practically freed from the constraints of having to provide for one's livelihood [5], and you mingle with many other Jews.

Now, we are living in the period of ikvesa diMeshicha* — the heels of Moshiach* — and, in order to prepare for his coming, an effort must be made to spread the wellsprings of Chassidus* outward, precisely outward. Each moment is therefore particularly precious, and one must enlarge the vessels that bring about the Geulah*, which are precisely the dissemination of the wellsprings of Chassidus, as the sicha of Simchas Torah 5690 [6] explains at length.

We know, indeed, the saying [7] appearing in one of the sichos of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, according to which "when Moshiach comes, one will strike one's forehead and say: My G-d! How many things one could have accomplished, during the period of exile!"

I conclude by giving you my blessing and greeting your entire community,

ומובן ,שפלא גדול אצלי על כך ,שכן הרי ידוע ומפורסם ,ואצל
חסידים בפרט ,העצה טובה והוראה של רבותינו נשיאינו ,חשוב טוב יהי׳
טוב ,וכפי שידוע מהסיפורים הרבים ,שהתקיים כן בפועל ,ובפרט
שההשגחה העליונה הביאה אותו לכפר חב״ד ,מיסודו ובהנהלתו של כ״ק
מו״ח אדמו״ר נשיא ישראל ,שהתעוררות ר״ר שלו על כל תושבי הכפר
חב״ד ,הם וכל אשר להם ,היא במיוחד שם ,הרי האמור לעיל נכון כמה
פעמים ככה ,ואין להאריך בדבר הפשוט ,והנני מצפה לשמוע ממנו
בשורות טובות בזה ,וכן שהוא משפיע על שאר תושבי כפר חב״ד ,לחזק
את מצב רוחם ,כדי להוסיף צנורות וכלים ,כדי לקבל את הברכה
והצלחה גדולה אשר משפיעים מלמעלה למטה ,ויהי רצון שתמיד כל
הימים יבשר טוב בטוב הנראה והנגלה.

על יסוד המבואר במקומות רבים בתורתנו הק׳ ,שכל ענין ,כאשר
הוא קשור גם בדבר של פועל ,זה מחזק יותר את הוודאות שהענין
יתקיים במלוא המידה.
שבזה מוסברת גם החשיבות הכי גדולה של מצות מעשיות דוקא,
כפי שדובר גם במאמר של יום ההילולא של כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר נשיא
ישראל ,יו״ד שבט ,ובזה מבואר גם מה שמצינו אצל נביאים רבים שהשם
יתברך הורה להם לעשות גם דבר של פועל ,שירמז על ענין הנבואה ,כי זה
מבטיח יותר את קיום הנבואה .וזהו גם תוכן המשנה)אבות ג ,טו( והכל
לפי רוב המעשה)ראה שם בפירוש המשניות להרמב״ם(,
על יסוד זה ,רצוני כהוספה על מה שדברנו ,לרשום זאת גם בכתב:
השם יתברך יתן לו ולכל אחד מבני ביתו שי׳ ברכתו והצלחתו
במלוא המידה בכל הנחוץ ,הן בענינים רוחניים והן בענינים גשמיים,
ובענין הכי חשוב ,לקבל נחת אמיתי ,שזהו נחת יהודי חסידי מכל אחד
מהילדים והנכדים שלו ,ולקבל זאת בבריאות ובשמחה ובטוב לבב.
וזכות מה שלהבא יוסיף לעשות במידה גדולה בהרבה בעניני צדקה

וגמ״ח ביחוד ,ועניני תורה ומצוות בכלל ,הן בד׳ אמות שלו והן בכל
הסביבה ,תהי׳ הצנור הטוב והרחב ,לקבל את ברכות השי״ת בטוב
הנראה והנגלה.
