Igrot Kodesh · Letter 672 — Tzedakah

By the grace of Hashem,

13 Menachem Av 5710,

To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav C. Z.,[1]

I greet you and bless you.

I read with pleasure your letter of 11 Menachem Av. Here are the reasons for this pleasure:

A) You have gone to the country with your wife. You will use this period to strengthen yourself physically and morally. May Hashem grant that you know success in this.

B) You have begun to seriously interest yourself in the proposal to create a confessional school.[2] To accomplish this, you will no doubt abandon the pessimism inherent in nature, as Torah Or Toldos explains in chapter 4 of the commentary entitled "Mayim Rabim." And you will transform this pessimism into ardor for the study of Torah.[3]

C) You tell me that you have set a condition to accepting the responsibility of this school: not to abandon your rabbinical functions, which were entrusted to you by my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

I await your good news, and conclude by blessing and greeting you,

בתענוג קראתי מכתבו מי"א מנחם אב. וסיבת התענוג היא

(א) שנסע עם ביתו תי' לנאות דשא. ובטח ינצלו את הזמן להבראת הגוף והבראת הנשמה. ויהי רצון שיהי' בהצלחה.

(ב) שהתחיל להתענין באופן רציני בדבר ההצעה אדות הפראקיעל סקול, ובטח לא ישתמש לזה יותר מדי בטבע המרה-שחורה, וכמבואר בתורה אור תולדות ביאור מים רבים פ"ד, להשתמש בכח המרה שחורה לענין התמדה בלימוד.

(ג) מה שכותב שהתנה בראש אשר אף אם יקבל המשרה בפראקיעל סקול יהי' בתנאי שלא יהי' סתירה לרבנותו, שניתנה לו ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ.
