By the grace of Hashem*,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 2/9, in which you ask me about your Mazal*. Now, it is said: "You shall be wholesome with Hashem* your Elokim*," and there is therefore no reason to consult the Mazal* or to read the future. One must advance firmly on the royal path — that of the King of the world, of our Torah* and its Mitzvos*.

You must therefore have a daily conduct that conforms, down to the smallest detail, to what is explained in the Shulchan Aruch*. In such a case, we have been given the assurance that "Israel is not subject to Mazal*." In this way, the Creator of the world, Who directs it, puts into practice the terms of the verse: "If you walk in My statutes... I will give you the rains..." and all the blessings stated in the Parshah*. With my blessing to convey good news,

במענה למכתבם מיום 2/9 בו שואלים למזלם.

והנה כבר נאמר תמים תהי' עם הוי' אלקיך, ואין ענין בדרישה למזל ולעתידות וכו', כי אם ללכת לבטח בדרך המלך מלכו של עולם, היא דרך תורתנו ומצותי', ז.

א. - להתנהג בחיי היום יומיים בכל ענין ופרט מתאים לפי המבואר בשולחן ערוך וכיו"ב.

ואז הובטחנו אשר אין מזל לישראל, ומקיים בורא עולם ומנהיגו (על פי מה שכתוב): אם בחוקותי תלכו גו' ונתתי גשמיכם וגו' ככל הברכות המנויות בפרשה.
