To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, a man of many accomplishments, Rav Shlomo (note 1: See, on his subject, Letters no. 3959 and 5874), who is known as Dr. Ehrman,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received your letter, together with what it contained. I was satisfied to learn that the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, devoted to communal needs, filled with zeal and of many accomplishments, Rav Binyamin Elyahu Gorodetsky (note 2: Director of the refugee aid bureau in Paris. See, on his subject, Letter no. 6584) has met with you. He has surely informed you of the intense activity carried out by the Chassidim*, with the greatest self-sacrifice, reaching into the most remote corners, in order to spread the Torah* and the fear of Hashem*. This is the case in the cities and villages of Morocco, in the Holy Land, in Australia, and in various countries, near and far. The most important support is therefore necessary, at least financially, so that the sacrifice these men make of themselves have the greatest utility, without being limited by a lack of means.

On various occasions, I heard my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, make reference to your support, including financial. I know the influence you exercise, not only on the Hawkin fund, but also on other sources of funding. I hope that you will take advantage of your influence and that you will take part in our activity to the greatest extent possible. May Hashem* grant that, in calm and breadth of spirit, in good health, you redouble your ardor in our holy Torah*, in its Mitzvos*, and that you announce and be told only of good, within all of Israel — a visible and tangible good. שמחתי לפגישת הרה"ג והרה"ח וו"ח אי"א נו"מ עוסק בצ"צ בעל מרץ ורב פעלים מוהר"ר בנימין אלי' שי' גורודצקי עם כת"ר שי' ובטח סיפר לכת"ר ע"ד העבודה המסתעפת הנעשית במסירת נפש על ידי אנ"ש שי' בפינות רחוקות בהפצת התורה ויראת שמים, כמו בכפרים ועיירות במרוקו, וכן באה"ק ת"ו באויסטראלי' ובכמה מדינות הקרובות והרחוקות. והרי עבודה זו מחייבת הסיוע הכי גדול, על כל פנים באמצעי כסף, כדי אשר המס"נ של העובדים תביא התועלת הכי גדולה בלי הגבלות מצד חוסר אמצעים כספיים.

וכיון ששמעתי מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר כמה פעמים ע"ד הסיוע של כת"ר שי' גם בענינים כספיים, ובידעי השפעתו לא רק בקרן חאווקין אלא גם במקורות כסף אחרים, תקותי שינצל השפעתו וישתתף בעבודתנו במדה הכי גדולה ואפשרית.

ויהי רצון אשר במנוחת הנפש והרחבת הדעת ובבריאות הנכונה יוסיף חילים בתורתנו הק' ומצוותי' ויזכה לבשר ולהתבשר אך טוב בתוך כלל ישראל, בטוב הנראה והנגלה.
