Greetings and blessings,

After a particularly long interruption, the reason for which I still do not understand, I have received your letter in which you ask me where you should buy an apartment. You cite three places. It would be good to choose the one where Chassidim* are to be found, in order to collaborate with them to strengthen what concerns Chabad*, in general, and especially the deepest point — the spreading of the wellsprings. My opinion in this matter has always been very clear. I am not satisfied with the prospect of paying a large entrance fee when moving into a house, in order for it to be in a certain neighborhood or a certain city. Even if the means (note 1: Financial) were not limited, one should use one's money for what is important, for what one cannot do without, on a personal level or in the communal domain, but not for the payment of an entrance fee (note 2: How much more so when these means are limited).

Of course, from here, I cannot know which of these three places is closest to what has just been said. On the other hand, it is surely possible to determine this on site. Whatever your decision, may Hashem* grant that the following words of our Sages* be fulfilled in your new home: "A beautiful home gives a man breadth of spirit." You are surely intensifying your actions to spread the wellsprings (note 3: Of Chassidus*) and, in general, everything that concerns the Chassidim*. With my blessing to convey good news,

לאחרי הפסק הכי ארוך, אשר גם עתה אין מובנת הסיבה נתקבל מכתבו, ותוכנו, באיזה מקום לקנות דירה, ומונה שלשה מקומות.

ומהנכון שיהי' זה במקום שנמצאים אנ"ש, בכדי שבשיתוף פעולה עמהם יוסיפו בעניני חב"ד בכלל ובנקודה הפנימית הפצת המעינות ביחוד. וידוע דעתי מאז ומקדם, אשר אין דעתי נוחה כלל, מהריבוי בדמי מפתח בשביל דירה שתהי' דוקא בשכונה ובעיר מסוימת, כי אפילו באם אין האמצעים מוגבלים, הרי יש לנצל הממון לענינים נחוצים שאי אפשר בלעדם [אם בענינים הפרטים, או בענינים הכללים], ולאו דוקא בשביל דמי מפתח לדירה.

מובן שבכאן אין ידוע איזה מג' המקומות מתאים יותר לתנאי האמור, אבל בודאי על אתר יש לברר כל זה.

ויהי רצון שאיך שיחליטו, יקוים בדירה החדשה דברי רז"ל שדירה נאה מרחיבה דעתו של אדם.

בודאי מוסיף בפעולותיו בהפצת המעינות ובכלל בעניני אנ"ש.
