To the great Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of many accomplishments and filled with zeal, Rav Avraham Baruch (note 1: Rav A. B. Rosenberger, of Moshav Gamzu),

Greetings and blessings,

During our discussion, I took note, with pleasure, of the manner in which you lead your life in the best way, in accordance with the teachings of our Torah*, Torah* of life, within the community of which you are the Rav (note 2: The Rav), that of Moshav Gamzu in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt by our righteous Moshiach*. And you are currently conducting an effort in the United States to find the means to build, in that place, a synagogue that will meet the needs of its inhabitants and, more generally, that will strengthen the prosperity and the economic situation of this place.

It is certain that our brethren, the children of Israel, who are by nature compassionate and benevolent, will respond to you and come to your aid, not only through their divine soul, but also through the nature of their animal soul (note 3: See, on this subject, Letter no. 3406), as explained in Iggeres HaKodesh* of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and the Shulchan Aruch*, at the end of chapter 12, and in the Tanya*, at the end of chapter 1. Moreover, our brethren, the children of Israel, who are in the United States, have always distinguished themselves by their Tzedakah* and by their good deeds, which are very important. May Hashem* grant that there be strengthened, in an ever-increasing manner, in every place, what is linked to the Tradition of Israel, including in your community, all the more so since it observes the Shemittah* in a manner conforming to the Halachah* — "mighty ones who fulfill His Word" (note 4: A verse whose terms our Sages* apply to those who observe the Shemittah*). Very soon, we will merit the fulfillment of the promise of our Sages*, stated in the Midrash Tehillim*, regarding the verse: "Hashem*, You desired Your land, You brought back the captivity of Yaakov" (note 5: Tehillim* 85:2). Indeed, it is by observing the Shemittah* and all the Mitzvos* that one obtains the redemption and, as a manuscript of the Midrash Tehillim* specifies: "For this reason, Israel is liberated immediately." נעם לי להוודע במשך שיחתנו ע"ד אורח חיים בהידור, מתאים להוראות תורתנו תורת חיים, בקהילה קדישא אשר כת"ר הוא המרא דאתרא שם, הוא מושב גמזו בארצנו הקדושה, תבנה ותכונן במהרה בימינו ע"י משיח צדקנו, ואשר בכדי להמציא האפשריות לבנין בית הכנסת מתאים לצרכי תושבי המקום ובכלל כדי לבסס מעמדם בעניני פרנסה וכלכלה כת"ר פועל בזה בארצות הברית.

ובודאי אשר אחינו בני ישראל, רחמנים וגומלי חסדים ולא רק מצד נפש האלקית שבהם אלא גם בטבע תולדותם מצד נפש הבהמית (עיין אגה"ק לרבינו הזקן בעל התניא והשלחן ערוך, סוף סי' י"ב ובתניא סוף פ' א'), בטח ייענו לענין זה ויושיטו לו עזר וסעד, ובפרט אשר אחב"י אשר בארצות הברית מצטיינים מאז ומקדם במדת הצדקה וגמילות חסדים ביתר שאת וביתר עז.

ויהי רצון אשר יתחזקו - ובאופן דמוסיף והולך מוסיף ואור - כל עניני ישראל סבא בכל מקום שהם, ובתוכם גם בקהילתו קדישא, ובפרט אשר שומרי שביעית כהלכתה הם, גבורי כח עושי דברו גו'.

ובקרוב ממש נזכה לקיום היעוד כפירוש רז"ל (מדרש תהלים) על הכתוב רצית הוי' ארצך שבת שבות יעקב, שכשמקיימים שמיטים וכל מצוות שנצטוו בה נגאלים, ובכתב יד מדרש תהלים: מפני כן ישראל נגאלין מיד .
