To the leaders of the young people of the Chabad* association, in Melbourne, may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I have received, with pleasure, your letter of 2 Shevat*, with the report of your holy activities for education based on sacred values, and especially of the deepest point — the spreading of the wellsprings (note 1: Of Chassidus*) outward. I await a report also on the school year for the girls, as well as on the Chassidic* farbrengen* and the activities of the propitious day of the Hilloula* of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, leader of Israel.

May Hashem* grant that from this propitious day onward, your enthusiasm and especially your actions be increased throughout the entire year. Among these actions will also be an important objective — that of multiplying the number of those who are involved in this matter. They will be ever more numerous. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission and to convey good and detailed news of all this,

N.B.: You ask me whether people from other backgrounds can take part in your activities. You know what is appropriate in this matter. This is also part of spreading the wellsprings (note 2: Which must also be carried out in observant circles). One of the best means of influencing others is to have them take part in the action, to make them feel that they must "absorb to the point of making others absorb." But it is equally evident that this does not apply to positions of responsibility. The greater the responsibility, the more one must verify, choose with scrupulousness, and determine who is capable and able to carry out an important mission.

You ask me whether spreading the wellsprings also concerns young children or those who have not yet received an education. It is clear that it involves all Jews, but, obviously, each person must use a channel, vessels, and words that are adapted to his own comprehension and situation. In this as well, my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, leader of Israel, taught us what is appropriate, since he disseminated deep Chassidic* discourses treating abstract concepts and written in the Holy Tongue, other discourses, easier to understand, inviting to the service of Hashem* and written in Yiddish, as well as the talks of the Likkutei Dibburim* and the context of Chassidus*, including in other languages (note 3: Other than Hebrew and Yiddish). All of this is part of spreading the wellsprings, which must be adapted according to those who receive them. This is quite evident.

בנועם קבלתי מכתבם מב' שבט, דו"ח מפעולותיהם בקדש, בחינוך עטה"ק ובנקודה הפנימית הפצת המעינות חוצה, ואחכה לדו"ח גם בהנוגע למחזור הילדות תחיינה וכן מההתועדות והפעולות ביום סגולה, הוא יום ההילולא של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע נשיא ישראל.

ויהי רצון שמיום סגולה זה יתוסף בהתעוררות והעיקר בהפעולות שלהם במשך כל השנה, ובפעולות אלו גם בנקודה החשובה להגדיל מספר הפעילים-ות שי' בפעולות אלו, וגם בזה באופן דמוסיף והולך.

בברכת הצלחה בעבודתם בקדש ולבשו"ט בכל האמור ומפורטות.

בשאלתם בנקודה בהנוגע לצרף לעבודתם מחוגים שונים:

כבר ידועה השיטה בזה, שגם זה נכלל בענין הפצת המעינות, שהרי זהו מהדרכים הכי טובים לפעול בהזולת ע"י שנוטל חלק בעבודה בפועל, ומרגיש שצריך הוא להעשות טופח ע"מ להטפיח.

אבל מובן ג"כ, שבהנוגע לענינים אחראים, הרי ככל שתגדל האחריות תגדל ג"כ הבחינה והבירור והדיוק, מי הוא הראוי, וכבר מוכן לקבל תפקיד אחראי זה.

לשאלתם, באם ענין הפצת המעינות שייך ג"כ לילדים בגיל רך לפ"ע או שעדיין לא קבלו חנוך מתאים עכ"פ לפ"ע.

מובן שהפצת המעינות שייכת בהנוגע לכאו"א מבנ"י, אבל מובן ג"כ שבהנוגע לכל אחד צריך להשתמש בצנור כלים ואותיות מתאים להבנתו מעמדו ומצבו.

וגם בזה הרי למדנו מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא ישראל, שפרסם מאמרים עמוקים בהשכלה בלה"ק, מאמרים קלי הבנה, ובעבודה ובאידיש ועד לשיחות לקוטי דבורים, און דעם ארום פון חסידות, וגם בשפות אחרות, שכל הנ"ל הוא במסגרת הפצת המעינות, אלא שנשתנה האופן מתאים לאופי המקבלים-ות, וק"ל.
