By the grace of Hashem*,

17 Shevat* 5719 (note 1: The Rebbe* writes "Tov" — good — a term whose numerical value is seventeen),

Greetings and blessings,

I have received your letter and your request for a blessing (note 2: This letter was addressed to several communal leaders of the Chassidic* community), on the occasion of the Hilloula* (note 3: Of the Previous Rebbe*, on 10 Shevat*). Divine Providence has granted you the merit and the success. It has entrusted to you a good portion, since you are among those who act within the institutions of the one whose Hilloula* we celebrate — "workers of the day," in the expression of our Sages*, as commented upon by the Tzemach Tzedek* (note 4: That is to say: "those who make the day"). Without a doubt, the one whose Hilloula* we celebrate therefore invokes even more clearly for you the great mercy of Hashem*.

May Hashem* therefore multiply His blessings in all your needs. Indeed, the blessing of the Holy One, blessed be He, possesses two qualities — that of the blessing itself (note 5: Which possesses a character of certainty), on the one hand, and that of prayer (note 6: Which can introduce something new), on the other hand, as explained in the Chassidic* discourses entitled "Rabbi Yehoshua Ben Levi said" and "I will bless those who bless you," appearing in the Sefer HaMaamarim* 5629 (note 7: 1869, by the Rebbe Maharash*). I address to you my blessing to become fixed in this mission, in accordance with the teaching of the Alter Rebbe*. This will be a fixedness in time and especially in spirit. In this way, you will also achieve fixedness among your students and those to whom you grant your influence. Indeed, "what is fixed cannot disappear."

May Hashem* grant that in this matter as well, you know great success, in accordance with the principle: "You shall spread to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south," until attaining an "inheritance without limit." With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו והפ"נ ליום ההילולא.

ויהי רצון אשר כיון שהשגחה העליונה זיכהו והצליחתו והעמידתו על חלק היפה - להיות מהפועלים (פעלא דיממא, כלשון רז"ל וכביאור אדמו"ר הצ"צ) במוסדות בעל ההילולא,

שבודאי זהו מוסיף עוד יותר בהתעוררות ר"ר ע"י בעל ההילולא,

יוסיף זה כו"כ בברכות השי"ת בכל המצטרך לו.

והרי ברכתו של הקב"ה שתי המעלות בה, מעלת הברכה ומעלת התפלה,

כמבואר בד"ה אמר ריב"ל כו' ואברכה מברכיך (תחלת ספר המאמרים תרכ"ט).

בברכה לקביעות בעבודת הקדש האמורה, וכהוראת רבנו הזקן, קביעות בזמן ובעיקר - קביעות בנפש.

שעי"ז פועלים הקביעות גם בהמושפעים והמחונכים - וקבוע - לא בטיל.

ויהי רצון שגם זה יהי' בהצלחה גדולה, ובאופן דופרצת ימה וקדמה וצפונה ונגבה, ועד לנחלה בלי מצרים.
