To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and carries out a sacred mission, Rav Alexander Zussya (note 1: Rav A. Z. Bunin Bin Noun, of Raanana. See, on his subject, Letters no. 6490, 6693, and the preceding letter),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 21 Teves*, which informed me of the good will of Mr. Mordechai regarding his lands. You will find enclosed a letter addressed to him (note 2: This is Letter no. 6667). On the question itself, it is clear that this raises several difficulties, even if, as you write, this man agrees to give a part of his land in order to build the institutions there, already during his lifetime, may he have long days and years. The utility of such a parcel is not clearly established, however. Can one build there only a vocational school, or also housing, as he says? Furthermore, there are several categories of vocational schools and some need land where one can work in the appropriate manner and where the institution can fulfill its mission.

Likewise, one may question the city of Raanana. Indeed, for the success of this enterprise, those who work there must live in proximity, and if the school's salary is not sufficient to ensure their livelihood, they must have the means to supplement their salary. Will this be possible in Raanana? Furthermore, is the city well-served by transportation and is the environment pleasant? I thank you in advance for answering all these questions. You will inform me of the advantages and disadvantages in this matter. For obvious reasons, I did not wish to include these questions in the letter I wrote to this man.

I am surprised that you have not acknowledged receipt of the relatively detailed letter I addressed to you some months ago and which you surely received in its time. Likewise, you tell me nothing about the state of health of your wife. I hope she is doing better, which also includes her morale, an essential aspect. Furthermore, I hope that you participated in the Chassidic* farbrengen* of the luminous day of 19 Kislev*, the Rosh Hashanah* of the teaching of Chassidus* and of the Chassidic* ways. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

במענה למכתבו מכ"א טבת, ע"ד רצונו הטוב של מר מרדכי שי' בהנוגע לקרקעות שלו, ומוסג"פ מכתבי להנ"ל.

והנה בגוף הענין מובן שישנם כמה קישוים, כי אף שכפי כתבו, מוכן הנ"ל למסור חלק הקרקע להקמת מוסדות בעודנו בחיים - לאריכות ימים ושנים - אינו ברור למה ראוי חלק זה באם רק לבנין בית עליו לביסל"מ, או גם שיכונים כמו שכותב. והרי כמה סוגי בתי ספר למלאכה - דורשים שטחים נוספים או למלאכה או לעבודה מתאימה וכו', בכדי שיוכל ביה"ס לפעול מתאים למטרתו. כן צריך עיון בהנוגע לרעננה, שטובת הענין הרי דורשת בטח שהעובדים בביה"ס ידורו בקירוב מקום ממש, ובאם משכורת ביה"ס אינה מספיקה לכל צרכי פרנסתם, בטח צריכים עזר סניף פרנסה, האם יש לזה מוצא ברעננה. כן האם התחבורה והסביבה קלה ומתאימה וכו'?

ותודה רבה מראש באם יענני ע"ד כ"ז, בין המעלות שבדבר ובין החסרונות. ומטעם המובן - לא רציתי לכלול שאלות אלה במכתבי להנ"ל.

לפלא שאין מאשר קבלת מכתבי המפורט לפי ערך - מלפני כמה חדשים, שבטח נתקבל בעתו. כן אינו מזכיר בהנוגע לבריאות זוגתו תי'. ותקותי שהוטבה, וגם מצב רוחה בכלל זה ועיקר.

כן תקותי שהשתתף בהתועדות יום הבהיר י"ט כסלו, ראש השנה לתורת החסידות ודרכי החסידות.
