Greetings and blessings,
I am responding to your letter of 24 Teves*, date of the Hilloula* of the Alter Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. You are considering a visit to Canada and also to New York. In general, this is not excluded, all the more so since you mention a strong nostalgia (note 1: The addressee of this letter was previously near the Rebbe*), but if you are also thinking of New York, you should arrange for the date of your visit to coincide with a Chassidic* farbrengen* (note 2: Of the Rebbe*) or else with a festival. You know that one can then take more and retain what one has taken throughout the entire year.
May Hashem* grant that you make the best decision, of a visible and tangible good, that you announce to me good news of all this, as well as of the activity of both of you (note 3: The addressee of this letter and his wife), each in his or her domain, in order to strengthen and develop Chassidus* to the greatest extent. You will do so in good health. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,
N.B.: At a propitious moment, I will mention all those you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, so that each may obtain the satisfaction of his needs, in accordance with what you write to me.

במענה למכתבו מכ"ד טבת, הילולא של כ"ק אדמו"ר הזקן זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע.
בו כותב ע"ד הסברא לבקר בקנדה וכן בנויארק.
בכלל הדבר אינו מופרך, ובפרט שכותב ע"ד געגועים חזקים וכו', אבל מאחר שכותב ע"ד נויארק, צריכים היו להתאים הבקור לזמני התועדות ויום טוב וכיו"ב, וכידוע שבימי יום טוב קען מען נעמען מער און נעמען לכל השנה.
והשי"ת יעזור שיחליטו כטוב יותר ובטוב הנראה והנגלה ויוכל לבשר טוב בכל האמור, וכן מפעולות שניהם כאו"א לפי ענינו בחיזוק והרחבת עניני חסידות במדה היותר אפשריות ויעשו זה מתוך בריאות הנכונה.
