By the grace of Hashem*,

20 Teves* 5719,

Brooklyn,

To Mr. C. Druck, whom Hashem* will grant long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 19 Teves*, whose content was the following:

A) In the prayer Yishtabach*, should one read 'King, the Unique, Elokim*' or 'King, Elokim*, the Unique'? It is clear that the term 'the Unique' must here be attached to what precedes it or be considered as an independent name, linked neither to what precedes nor to what follows, as is the case in the prayer Baruch She'Amar* (note 1: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: 'According to the nusach* of the Arizal*, one says: "King, the Unique, Life of the worlds," omitting the word "Elokim*," which is further proof that the adjective "Unique" does not relate to "Elokim*." Commenting on this formulation of the Arizal*, the Alter Rebbe* explains in the Torah Or*, on page 40c: "This term King is linked to the level of the Unique"').

B) Some pronounce the Name Ado-nai* concluding it with a Nun* with a Kamatz*, but without pronouncing the Yud*. It is quite evident that this is an error (note 2: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: 'See the Pri Megadim* on the Shulchan Aruch*, Orach Chaim*, at the beginning of chapter 5, in the Eshel Avraham*, according to which the Yud* should, on the contrary, be accentuated'). And one should not consider, as you do in your letter, that it is better for them to act inadvertently (note 3: And one should therefore not warn them, for if they disregarded this warning, they would be considered as committing a fault deliberately).

I take this opportunity to remind you of the necessity of observing the three well-known fixed studies that bear on the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*. We heard many times from my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, that these concern everyone and that they have a propitious effect in various domains. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

For the Rebbe Shlita*,

the secretary,
