7 Menachem Av 5710,

To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem, ...

I greet you and bless you.

I have just received your letter of 4 Menachem Av, with the request for a blessing enclosed. In the meantime, you have no doubt received my letter of erev Rosh Chodesh Menachem Av.

Concerning the situation of your son: I have difficulty understanding the Chassidim who systematically adopt the most severe interpretation of the events that happen to them, although they know the saying of my father-in-law, stated in the name of several Chabad Rebbeim: "When one thinks that things are going well, things are indeed going well." You will consult, on this subject, tractate Horayos 12a. Should it not be so?

I have just read this request for a blessing in the office of my father-in-law, the Rebbe. He will therefore surely grant you his blessings, which will be fully accomplished.

הפ"נ הנ"ל קראתיו זה עתה בהיכל כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ, ובודאי יברכם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ וברכותיו יקויימו על מילואן.
