The good news that we received about the manner in which you dedicate yourself to everything that touches upon Jewish education has led us to address the present letter to you.

You have no doubt heard of Machaneh Yisrael, an institution founded by my father-in-law, the Rebbe Shlita, which, thank Hashem, already has to its credit many achievements in the various domains of Judaism, such as the observance of Shabbat*, the study of Torah, family purity, Tefillin.

Machaneh Yisrael also works to bring moral comfort to Jewish soldiers.

Machaneh Yisrael has founded a group for Mishnah by heart, which, each year, distributes by lot a few chapters to its members, so that they learn them by heart and recite them whenever possible, when they walk in the street, find themselves in a store, or travel on a train.

We are sending you, by separate mail, articles explaining the purpose and actions of Machaneh Yisrael, whose various branches of activity can surely be applied in your city. We would be happy to receive your letters announcing good news in all these domains.

Commenting on the period of Purim, our Sages explain that the half-Shekels given each year by the Jews counterbalanced the sum that Haman proposed to Achashverosh* to obtain their destruction.

Now, these half-Shekels enabled the laying of the foundation, that is, the forging of the sockets of the first Sanctuary that the children of Israel built for Hashem. Subsequently, they served to perform the public sacrifices. In both cases, it was said that "the rich shall give no more and the poor, no less."

The only means of thwarting Haman's plans was to gather all the Jews. In what manner was it possible to inspire them with the unity that is necessary? By laying the foundation of the Sanctuary that each Jew carries in his heart, of the deep feeling that animates him regardless of the group to which he belongs. Indeed, if one considers this feeling, all are truly identical, he who is "rich" in knowledge and he who is devoid of it and "poor."

When the foundation is laid and this feeling is awakened, one can build a wonderful Temple, become aware that each Jew is a sacred Sanctuary in which Hashem reveals Himself. One only needs to know how to awaken it.

...הטוב אשר הגיענו ע"ד התמסרותו לכל דבר הנוגע לחנוך היהדות, העירנו לבא לפניו במכתבינו זה.

בטח שמע כמ"ע ע"ד "מחנה ישראל" אשר נוסדה ע"י מו"ח כ"ק אדמו"ר שליט"א, ואשר בע"ה פעלה כבר הרבה לטובת חזוק היהדות כגון שמירת שבת, למוד התורה, טהרת המשפחה, הנחת תפילין וכדומה.

הרבה פועלת "מחנה ישראל" לטובת המצב הרוחני של החיילים היהודים.

ע"י "מחנה ישראל" נוסדה גם חברת משניות בע"פ המחלקת לחברי' עפ"י גורל חלקים מהמשניות (...פרקים בשנה) ללמדם בע"פ ולחזור עליהם בכל עת מצוא, בלכתם בחוץ, בעמדם בחנות בנסעם ברכבת וכו'.

שולחים אנו לכמ"ע במעטפה מיוחדת מאמרים המבארים מטרת ופעולות "מחנה ישראל" ובודאי גם במקומו יש כר נרחב ועבודה בכל מקצעות עבודת "מחנה ישראל", ונשמח לקראת מכתביו מבשרים טוב בפעולותיו בכהנ"ל.

בימי הפורים בימים ההם ביארו רז"ל (מגילה יג, ב) אשר שקלי ישראל, שהיו נותנים בכל שנה מחצית השקל, בטלו את שקלי המן שנתן לאחשורוש ביהודים לאבדם.

והנה מחצית השקל נתנו, להניח יסוד בית משכן ה' הראשון שהי' אצל בני ישראל דהיינו האדנים למשכן, ואח"כ היו נותנים לקנות בהם קרבנות הצבור, ובשניהם - העשיר לא ירבה והדל לא ימעיט.

זאת אומרת: כשהמן קם ורוצה להשמיד להרוג גו' העצה היעוצה היא: לך כנוס את כל היהודים, ואיך ובמה יתאחדו כל היהודים בהתעוררות הראוי', הוא בהנחת יסוד בית המקדש אשר בלב כל אחד ואחד מישראל דאס פינטעלע איד וואס בא יעדערן בלי הבדל מפלגה כי בזה הכל שוים: העשיר בידיעות והדל ופשוט ביותר, וכשמניחים היסוד, אז מ'דערוועקט די פינטעלע בונים בית מקדש מפואר, זעהט מען אז יעדער איד איז א הייליגער היכל וואו דער אויבערשטער רוהט, מ'דארף נאר וויסען ווי עם אויפוועקען.
