By the grace of Hashem*,

To the members of the committee of the Chassidim* for the Chabad* school, in our Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt by our righteous Moshiach*, very soon, may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I have duly received your letter of 22 Cheshvan*, in which you tell me that you have been elected to represent the Chassidim* of your city. May Hashem* grant success to your sacred mission, consisting of strengthening and developing the Chabad* school that is there. No doubt you will not be affected by all those who oppose our masters and leaders. In fact, all of this is nothing new under the sun. It has been thus since the revelation of the inner dimension of the Torah*. And logic indicates that the purpose of such a situation is to enable one to become a receptacle, fit to unify oneself in every respect with the inner teaching of the Torah*, as the holy Tanya* explains in chapter 5. Moreover, you know the decision of the Heavenly Court according to which, because the Alter Rebbe* gave of himself for Chassidus*, those who are attached to him and follow his path would have the upper hand in everything concerning the Torah*, the fear of Hashem*, and good conduct.

May Hashem* take pity on His people, for they walk in darkness and they fight for the luminaire of the Torah*, for its inner dimension which, in our era, has been revealed through Chassidus*. May He therefore enable them to perceive the beneficent Light. And even those who, according to the introduction of the Tanya* of the Alter Rebbe*, possess a troubled intellect and troubled knowledge, who advance in the penumbra in everything concerning the service of Hashem*, who struggle to perceive the beneficent light, will be freed from these difficulties, in goodness and mercy. Is there anything that Hashem* cannot do? They will thus repair what they have distorted or missed until now, in the manner explained by the Tanya*, in Iggeres HaTeshuvah*, at the end of chapter 9, citing the Tana D'vei Eliyahu: "What should one who has committed a fault and rendered himself guilty do? If he was accustomed to reading one page, let him read two." How much more so is this the case with regard to the community, the spreading of the wellsprings of Chassidus*. The beginning of action in this direction takes place during childhood, as can be verified concretely. Indeed, one can recognize in a teacher, even if he merely teaches reading, whether he is imbued with Chassidic* light and warmth or else...

I send you my blessing for considerable success in all of this, to convey good news of it in an ever-increasing manner, especially as we approach Kislev*, the month of miracles, of deliverance, of the evident victory of Chassidus* and of everything that concerns it. With my blessing in all domains,

ויהי רצון אשר יצליחו בעבודתם בקדש לחזק ולפתח בי"ס החבד"י אשר ב.. ד.

ובודאי לא יתרשמו מכל אלה המנגדים לרבותינו נשיאינו, שהרי לא חדשה היא בארץ, כ"א מעת גילוי פנימיות התורה, ובפרט באופן המובן גם לשכל אנושי למען עשותו גם הוא כלי המוכשר להתאחד עם פנימיות התורה, איחוד בכל הפרטים, וכמבואר בספר תניא קדישא פרק ה'.

ובפרט שהרי ידוע פסק דין בי"ד של מעלה, אשר בגלל המס"נ (של רבנו הזקן) על תורת החסידות, פסקו בבי"ד של מעלה, אשר בכל ענין של תורה יראת שמים ומדות טובות תהי' יד מקושריו והולכי בעקבותיו על העליונה.

ויהי רצון אשר ירחם השי"ת על העם ההולכים בחשך ונלחמים במאור התורה זוהי פנימיות התורה שבדורנו נתגלתה בתורת החסידות, ויזכם לראות את האור כי טוב.

ואפילו אלו שבלשון רבנו הזקן בהקדמתו לתניא, שכלו וידיעתו מבולבלים ובחשכה יתהלכו בעבודת ה' (שלכן) בקושי יכול לראות את האור כי טוב, המה' יפלא לבטל קושי זה ובחסד וברחמים יתקנו את אשר עוותו וחיסרו עד עתה, ובאופן המבואר בתניא באגרת התשובה סוף פרק ט' (מ"ש בתדב"א) אדם עבר עבירה ונתחייב וכו' הי' רגיל לקרות דף א' יקרא ב' דפים וכו' ועאכו"כ בענין הנוגע לרבים, הפצת מעינות דא"ח, אשר התחלת העבודה בזה הוא בגיל רך, וכנראה במוחש, שאפילו בלימוד האל"ף בי"ת וכיו"ב ניכר, באם המורה חדור אור וחום חסידותי או וכו'.

בברכת הצלחה מופלגה בכל האמור ולבשו"ט ובאופן דמוסיף והולך, ובפרט שמתקרבים אנו לחדש כסלו חדש הנסים והגאולה והנצחון גלוי דתורת החסידות ועניני'.
