To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav Azriel (note 1: Rav A. Markovich, of Strasbourg),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from the eve of Shabbos*. It is true that we possess here the references of the verses and the sayings of our Sages* that appear in the holy Tanya*, but, for various reasons, their publication has been prevented, and only some of them are reproduced in the Yiddish translation of the Tanya*.

You ask me about chapter 11 of Iggeres HaTeshuvah* which makes reference to Ezra (note 2: Who says: "He is abundant in pardon." This is therefore not about the specific episode that occurred in the time of Ezra, but about the quality of abundance in pardon that the Holy One, blessed be He, possesses). This assertion pertains to the explanation given and not to its formulation. You will surely find a Tanya* published by Kehot editions, in Brooklyn, in recent years. At the end of it, there is an index, with the names of persons, notes, and corrections.

I take this opportunity to emphasize to you the necessity of maintaining the three well-known studies, which pertain to the Chumash*, the Tehillim*, and the Tanya*. We have heard many times from my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, that these studies concern everyone and that they have a beneficial effect in various domains. נכונה השמועה שישנו כאן מראה מקומות לספר תניא קדישא, לפסוקים ומאמרי חז"ל, אף שמצד סיבות לעת עתה נתעכב ההדפסה בפועל, ורק חלק מהם בא בתניא בהעתקה לאידית.

בשאלתו באגרת התשובה פרק י"א למ"ש בעזרא, הכוונה להענין ולא להביטוי.

בטח ימצא תניא שבהוצאת קה"ת ברוקלין, בשנים הכי אחרונות, שבא לבסוף מפתח ענינים, שמות אנשים הערות ותקונים.
