To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav Y.,[1]

I greet you and bless you.

I reply to your letter.

Finding myself last Thursday near the tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, I mentioned your name and that of the members of your family.

You ask me whether you should perfect yourself in the knowledge of shechitah*. In my opinion, this is a very good initiative.

You tell me that no shochet position has been offered to you.

Nonetheless, who can read thoughts, who has knowledge of hidden forces, and who can penetrate the divine Plan? At the end of chapter 22 of Iggeres HaKodesh, mention is made of "the means of ensuring one's livelihood" and of "the return of the kingdom to the house of David." One can conclude that a parallel is thus established between them.

You will no doubt arrange for this not to contradict what you accomplish elsewhere.

You ask me whether one can postpone a fixed study session in order to collect funds.

You do not specify whether it is a personal or collective study. In the latter case, indeed, other people are also weakened by it.

Nonetheless, in general, this is only an illusion suggested by the yetzer hara*, which asks that this study be postponed. In any case, if it is really necessary that it be so, you may complete your study during the night.

No doubt, the words my father-in-law, the Rebbe, wrote to you at the end of his letter, in the week preceding his histalkus*, must be engraved in your spirit. He blessed you "to know success in the mission I entrust to you, materially and spiritually."[2]

Take on this mission therefore with all your strength. You will thus know considerable success. It suffices for you to put into practice what is expected of you, joyfully and keeping open the channel that connects you to the Rebbe.

בהיותי על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ ביום ה' העבר הזכרתיו ואת ב"ב שיחיו.

בשאלתו אם להשתלם במלאכת הזביחה בכל הפרטים, לפי דעתי נכון הוא במאד.

ומה שכותב אשר אודות משרת שו"ב עדיין איז נוטא קיין טראכט,

הנה מי אתנו יודע מה שישנו במחשבה כחות והמשכות נעלמות ובפרט מה שעלה במחשבה, וראה אגה"ק רסכ"ב: במה משתכר כו' ומלכות ב"ד מתי תחזור כו' הנה הושוו זה לזה.

ובטח יוכל להסתדר באופן כזה שלא יהי' בסתירה ולשאר עניני עבודתו.

ובשאלתו צי מען קען פארבויגען פון די קביעות עתים בשביל אסיפת כספים.

הנה לא ביאר אם זהו קב"ע ביחיד או ברבים (שאז מחליש גם את האחרים),

ובכל אופן יש לשער שע"פ רוב אין זה אלא דמיון שמרמה היצר אז מ'דארף פארבייגען. ואם באמת מוכרח הוא, הרי יכול להשלים בשעוריו בלילה.

בודאי חקוקים באותיות החקיקה בזכרונו דברי כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ בחתימת מכתבו אליו מהשבוע דהסתלקות, אשר מברכו "להצליח בעבודת שליחותי בגשמיות וברוחניות" ולכן יהי' חזק במילוי שליחותו זו, כי בטח יראה בזה הצלחה מופלגה, ועליו רק לעשות המוטל עליו בשמחה און האלטן אפען דעם צנור ההתקשרות.
