By the grace of Hashem*,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter (note 1: In which the recipient of this letter indicates that he has been called up for the army and requests a blessing from the Rebbe* to be exempted, in order to return to the Yeshiva*), requesting a blessing, dated 14 Cheshvan*. No doubt you will study abundantly the revealed part of the Torah* and Chassidus*. You will also intensify the fervor of your prayer, which includes the recitation of the Tehillim* according to their monthly distribution and also according to their weekly distribution, until after the festival of liberation of 19 Kislev* (note 2: That of the Alter Rebbe*, who himself, during his imprisonment, "prayed abundantly" — meaning that in addition to the recitation of the Tehillim* according to their monthly distribution, which he had already adopted beforehand, he also recited, during his incarceration, the Tehillim* according to their weekly distribution). Of course, you will commit to all of this without making a vow.

It would also be good for part of your study to be done by heart, at least one chapter of Mishnah* or Tanya*. May Hashem* grant that you convey good news of your success in the study of our holy Torah*, an authentic Torah*, in its revealed part and in Chassidus*, with fear of Hashem*, as well as in the practice of the Mitzvos*, in the best manner. בטח ילמוד בשופי נגלה וחסידות, וירבה בעבודת התפלה [ובזה אמירת שיעור חדשי של התהלים - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש - (וגם שבועי - [כמו שנחלק לימי השבוע]) - עד לאחרי חג הגאולה הבע"ל הוא יום י"ט כסלו] - אף שכמובן צ"ל זה בלי נדר, ובלימוד האמור מה טוב שיהי' גם לימוד בעל פה - עכ"פ פרק אחד משניות או פרק אחד תניא.
