Greetings and blessings,

I address you concerning the Yeshiva* that bears the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. It seems that no one is troubled by the fact that sacred studies, for each class, occupy, in total, only one to one and a half hours per day. And one understands what their occupation is during the entire rest of the day. Can one truly give to this the name of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*?

As I have always done, I am not complaining here about the past. What good would it do? I am referring to the present and the future. Likewise, I am not saying that upon receipt of this letter, one must begin studying Torah* day and night. In fact, one must immediately establish an action program that reasonably allows one to think that, in the near future, these studies will occupy several hours. Then, subsequently, they will be further strengthened until this institution is worthy of its name. Of course, you have the right and the duty to transmit what is said here to all the Chassidim* of your city, to all those who will be able to benefit from what is explained in this letter and from the additional details that will be given to them. For it is not difficult to reach the goal. One need only become aware that such is the mission one receives, that each person is personally responsible for it. In the words of the Mishnah*, "the Master pushes and the workers are lazy." And it is, in this case, the Master of the entire world. One must add to this that my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, invokes great mercy, arouses blessing and success. You need only forge the receptacles necessary to receive them. This is self-evident.

You allude to the salary. I have received indirectly — but, of course, I do not take responsibility for it — information about the amount of this salary in such a case or in a similar situation. You will therefore indicate to me what the situation is. Indeed, the satisfaction of "all of us," according to the expression you use in your letter, determines the coming of other young men to this school. And "your friend has a friend." Conversely, when it is reported that such a person has difficulty earning his livelihood, the news spreads, and it is easy to foresee the consequences. ...ועתה באתי בהנוגע לישיבת... אשר נקראת על שם כ"ק מו"ר אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, שכנראה אין איש שם על לב לזה שלימודי קדש לכתה, הם משעה עד שעה וחצי, ביום! ומובן במה מתעסקים כל היום כולו, והאומנם על זה יקרא שם כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר?

כדרכי מאז, אין אני בא בטענות על העבר, כי מה אועיל, כי אם בהנוגע לההוה והעתיד, ואין כוונתי ג"כ שברגע קבלת מכתבי, יתחילו ללמוד הנ"ל כל שעות היום והלילה, כי אם שתיכף יעשו תכנית פעולות באופן שתהי' השערה קרובה לודאי, שבעתיד הקרוב יגדילו כמות שעות לימוד בהאמור ויוסיפו בזה יותר ויותר עד שיהי' המוסד מתאים לשמו, ומובן שברשותו ומזכותו להודיע הכתוב לכל אנ"ש אשר ב... ולכל אלה שיש לקוות לתועלת כשידעו ע"ד הכתוב ובתוספת הסברה, שאין כל קישוים להשיג את המבוקש, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא שידעו שזהו מתפקידם והענין מוטל על שכם כל אחד מהם, ובסגנון המשנה הבע"ב - של כה"ע... - דוחק והפועלים עצלים, אלא שיש להוסיף, שכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר מעורר ר"ר ומשפיע ברכה והצלחה, ושעליהם רק לעשות כלים מתאימים לזה, וק"ל.

במ"ש אודות המשכורת, הגיעתני ידיעה מהצד, אף שכמובן אינני ערב בזה, שהמשכורת בכאלו (עכ"פ במוסד דומה להנ"ל) הוא... ובטח יודיע בזה, והרי בשביעת רצון של "כולנו", כלשונו במכתבו, תלוי ביאת עוד אברכים לשם, שהרי חברא חברא אית לי' וכשמגיעה שמועה שפלוני דחוק ומצומצם בפרנסתו, וכו' וכו' הרי מתפרסם הדבר וקל להבין התוצאות...
