Igrot Kodesh · Letter 6553 — Chinuch
Volume 18 · Letter 50 · To: membres du département féminin des écoles
By the grace of Hashem*,
13 MarCheshvan* 5719,
Brooklyn, New York,
To the members of the women's department of the Beth Rivka schools, may Hashem* grant you long life,
Blessings and greetings,
I was pleased to learn that the women are conducting positive action on behalf of the Beth Rivka schools. I have been informed of your various accomplishments — the annual dinner, the inauguration of the Crown Heights department, and the activity of the West Side department. I hope that all of this will strengthen and develop the important achievements of the women for the Beth Rivka schools, in accordance with the injunction of our Sages* that "one knows elevation in the domain of holiness," particularly when it concerns an accomplishment as important as good education, based on sacred values, as dispensed in the Beth Rivka schools.
In our Sidra* and in those that follow, our holy Torah* recounts what happened to our Patriarchs and our Matriarchs. Our Sages* emphasize that: "what happened to the fathers is a teaching for the children." Of course, this also includes the actions of our Matriarchs — Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah. The trials they had to face, the self-sacrifice they demonstrated, are a teaching and a lesson for all women, particularly for those of our generation. It follows that, when one seems to be confronted with difficulties, or even obstacles, it is certain that these are only tests that Hashem* places before a Jewish man or woman in order to instill greater strengths — and even hidden strengths — thanks to which one will be able to overcome these difficulties which, from the outset, are sent to a person only to disappear afterward. One need only manifest great determination, since the strengths are granted so that each person may fulfill the mission entrusted to him or her. Of course, achieving this is the greatest merit and true happiness, for each person in particular, with all the members of his or her family. In this way, one will receive the blessing of Hashem*, from His full hand, materially and spiritually, in all needs. With my blessing for success in your action,
