By the grace of Hashem,

To the Rav, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav I. C. Z.,[1]

I greet you and bless you.

I received in its time your letter, with what was enclosed. I read it last Thursday near the tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who has surely blessed each and every one of you in all your needs, according to your situation. Hashem will completely fulfill his blessings, material and spiritual.

You express the wish to be good receptacles so that the will of the Rebbe may be accomplished through you.

Bitterness and doubts are useless in this matter, for these are instruments of the yetzer hara*.

It has already been explained here at a Chassidic gathering that Hashem created the world because it is the nature of the One Who is good to do good. I am alluding here to creation in its most general sense, to the entire chain of worlds. And the reason for the existence of creation appears clearly within it.

This is regarding intrinsic creation. But the effort of man can add to it a new dimension. Now, all the heavenly influences pass through the head of the generation, who is its head — that is, my father-in-law, the Rebbe.

The Rebbe related the following at a sicha* on Simchas Torah 5693[2]: "I committed myself, without making it a vow, to do everything that my father[3] asked of me in 5680,[4] on the condition that this be done with kindness and mercy. But my kindness costs me dearly. One must not vex, nor push away."

In becoming aware of all this, we must serve Hashem with joy, with the absolute certainty that Hashem will have mercy on us and that He will come to our help,[5] that He will grant us a great sanctification — on the condition that we strengthen our hiskashrus to the tzaddik, for he is henceforth even more present in this world of action.

שלום וברכה!

מכתבו עם המוסג"ב בעתו נתקבל. וקראתיו, וגם ביום ה' העבר, על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ. ובודאי ברכם, כל אחד ואחת בהמצטרך להם, לפי ענינם, והשי"ת ימלא ברכותיו בגו"ר על מילואן.

ומה שמתברך שיהיו כלים טובים למילוי הרצונות,

הנה אין צ"ל במרה שחורה וספקות יותר מדאי, כי גם בזה משתמש היצר.

וכבר הי' מדובר בהתועדות פה, אשר אין לשכוח שכל ענין הבריאה (כוונתי בזה אפילו בריאה דכללות, וגם כללות ענין ההשתל') הי' מצד שטבע הטוב להיטיב. ומובן שענין הסיבה משפיע וניכר בהבריאה. זהו - בנוגע להבריאה מצ"ע. וגם במה שמוסיפין בבריאה ע"י עבודה, ג"כ כן הוא, כי כל ההשפעות הן ע"י מנהיג הדור שהוא הוא ראש הדור כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ. וסיפר בשיחת שמח"ת תרצ"ג וז"ל: אלץ וואס דער טאטע האט מיר געזאגט שנת תר"ף קבלתי ע"ע בל"נ, רק בתנאי בחסד וברחמים. מיין גוטסקייט קאסט מיך טייער כו' שלא לנגוע כו' ולא לרחק כו'. עכ"ל.

ואחרי שכל אלו לנו, צריך לגשת להעבודה בשמחה ובבטחון גמור, אשר השי"ת ירחם ויעזור ומקדשין אותנו הרבה מלמעלה, ובלבד שנאחוז אנהאלטן זיך בחבל ההתקשרות בצדיקא דאשתכח עתה יתיר גם בעולם הזה המעשה.
