To the members of the committee for the Mikveh* of the great synagogue (note 1: Of Haifa), may Hashem* grant you long life,

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter requesting help to complete the construction of your Mikveh*. Generally speaking, I do not possess a fund capable of financing such investments. Nevertheless, it is said: "I am the friend of all who fear You and of those who observe Your precepts." I therefore enclose a check, as a symbolic participation. Indeed, this comes from one of the funds belonging to my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us. He was an upright and righteous man, fearing Hashem* and turning away from evil. Now, you know the promise of our Sages*, stated in tractate Bava Basra* 15b (note 2: Stated regarding Iyov), according to which one who takes a coin from such a man receives a blessing. In this matter, the quantity matters little, and a single coin suffices.

May Hashem* grant you success in your mission, of the highest importance — that of the purity of Israel. Very soon, you will bring this project to completion, you will increase purity and everything that flows from it. As our Sages* say, purity leads to holiness, to piety, and to the coming of Eliyahu the prophet, who will come and redeem us, very soon and in our days, may it be so, Amen*, according to the conclusion of tractate Sotah* (note 3: The Rebbe* notes at the bottom of the page: "You will consult the Midrash* Bamidbar Rabbah*, chapter 9, paragraph 44"). הנה בכלל אין קופות למטרות כאלו נמצאות ת"י,

בכל זה מתאים למ"ש חבר אני לכל אשר יראוך ולשומרי פקודיך מצורף בזה המחאה עכ"פ השתתפות סמלית, אלא שכיון שנלקחה מאחת הקופות אשר לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"ם זי"ע, איש תם וישר ירא אלקים וסר מרע וכו' וידוע הבטחת רז"ל, כל הנוטל פרוטה מקופת איש כזה מתברך (ב"ב טו, ב) שאין הכמות נוגע ובלבד שיהי' בזה כדי נתינת פרוטה.

ויהי רצון שיצליחו בעבודה הכי נעלית טהרת עם ישראל, לברך על המוגמר בקרוב ממש, ולהרבות הטהרה ותוצאותי',

כהודעת רז"ל טהרה מביאה לידי כו' קדושה חסידות ביאת אלי' הנביא במהרה בימינו יבוא ויגאלנו, כי"ר, אמן ( סוף מס' סוטה*).
