a sacred mission, Rav David Avraham (note 1: Rav D. A. Lesselbaum, of Moshav Broch. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5907),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 11 Tishrei*. I am surprised that you do not specify, in your recent letters, whether you have seen again (note 2: See, on this subject, Letter no. 5907) the relatives you had met at Kfar Chabad*. You had succeeded in arousing in them the warm relationship toward Chabad* that they lacked and the concrete practice of the Mitzvos*. I therefore have great hope that you know success in this matter and that, from time to time, you introduce, on these points, a quantitative and qualitative addition at once. You will therefore provide me with all these details in your next letter, without waiting for another situation that seems to you to be one of distress (note 3: A difficulty for which one addresses oneself to the Rebbe).

You are surely using your influence in the classes to which you give your teaching and within the Moshav*. In both of these places, you are surely showing the greatest eagerness, for all of this is particularly important. Of course, the two actions are not identical. In class, indeed, it is a matter of your work, which is not the case toward those who reside in that place. One must also think ahead and foresee what the reaction of the local Shochet* will be. Likewise, it must not be thought that you are neglecting the teaching given to the students in order to carry out action among the adults. Everything therefore depends on the conditions of the place and the people. No doubt you will consult with the Chassidim* who are there and who know the conditions of that place. Of course, you will do all of this discreetly. This is self-evident and you must understand what I mean. With my blessing for success in your sacred mission and conveying my greetings to the teaching staff,

במענה למכתבו מי"א תשרי...

לפלא שאינו מזכיר במכתביו האחרונים, אם נפגש עוה"פ באותם הקרובים שי' שפגשם מאז בכפר חב"ד ושפעל עליהם יחס - קירוב לחב"ד אף שחסר אצלם - מצות בפועל. הרי תקותי חזקה שמצליח בפעולה ומזמן לזמן - בהוספה בכמות ובאיכות, וימלא עד"ז במכתבו הבא, ומבלי לחכות עד שיהי' איזה ענין שנדמה יהי' לו שעוד פעם נמצא במצור וכו'.

בודאי מנצל השפעתו בהנוגע להכתות בם מורה ובהנוגע בתוככי המושב, שבשני המקומות גם יחד בודאי עוסק במרץ גדול, שהרי הענין חשוב למאד. אף שמובן ששונה אופן הפעולה, ז.א. שבהכתה הפעולה היא בתוכן תפקידם, משא"כ בהנוגע לתושבי המקום, יש להתבונן ולשער מראש תגובת השוחט וכו' שבמקום, וכן להזהר מלתת מקום לעלילה שמזניחים ענין ההוראה לתלמידים בשביל תעמולה בין המבוגרים, והכל לפי תנאי המקום והאישים. ובטח יתייעץ עם עוד מאנ"ש הנמצאים שם ויודעים תנאי המקום. מובן שגם ההתייעצות צ"ל באופן חשאי, וק"ל, וד"ל.
