Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter from before Rosh Hashanah*, which reached me at a time that did not allow me to respond with all the necessary depth. Please excuse the delay of my response. You speak to me of your work, of your sacred mission, of your difficulties. You therefore seem to be in doubt as to whether you should keep your current position or move to another city. My opinion, based on what we have heard many times in such cases from my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit will protect us, is quite clear. You must continue your sacred mission in the place where you currently find yourself.

Moreover, an evolution has already been observed, and even a true transformation, which reinforces the evidence of the assertion that your departure from that place could destroy everything, cause the disappearance of what has been acquired until now. Without a doubt, some will interpret your departure from there as a retreat, as an abandonment of the struggle. Someone like you surely knows these people and the way they reason. You will consult, on this subject, the Sefer Me'iras Einayim* and the Nesivos HaMishpat* on the Shulchan Aruch*, Choshen Mishpat*, chapter 3, paragraph 4. You will strengthen your confidence in the ultimate success. In the end, you will succeed in structuring the community in the appropriate manner. As our Sages* say in the Zohar* and in the Midrash*: "I sleep in exile, but my heart is awake for the Holy One, blessed be He, His Torah* and His Mitzvos*." Indeed, a new year has just begun, which is also a complete year, having two Adars, a Shemittah* year, which is defined as a Shabbos* for Hashem*, according to the commentary of the Ramban*, previously cited. שלום וברכה!

במענה למכתבו מלפני ראש השנה, שנתקבל בימים שאין הזמן גרמא לענות בענין הדורש עיון, ואתו רוב הסליחה על עכוב המענה,

בו כותב ע"ד עבודתו ומשרתו בקדש ב... וע"ד הקישוים שיש לו וכו' וכאילו בספק עומד האם להמשיך בעבודה שם, או שיעתיק מושבו לעיר אחרת וכו',

ודעתי ברורה [מיוסדת ע"פ ששמענו כ"פ בכגון דא מכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע] אשר עליו להמשיך בקדש במקומו עתה, ובפרט שהרי כבר נראית הזזה לטובה, ולא רק הזזה אלא גם שינוי ממשי, ומחזק עוד פשיטות האמורה שנסיעתו משם עלולה להרוס ולבטל כל ההישגים דעד עתה. ובודאי שימצאו כמה שיפרשו הנסיעה מהתם - כנסיגה ובריחה מן המערכה, ובודאי לדכוותי' ידוע טבע בעלי בתים ופסקי בע"ב (עיין סמ"ע ונתיבות המשפט שו"ע חלק חושן משפט ס"ג סעיף ד') וחזק יהי' בטחונו, אשר סו"ס יצליח להעמיד הקהלה על מכונה הראוי, וכמאמר חז"ל (בזהר ובמדרש): אני ישנה בגלותא ולבי ער להקב"ה לתורתו ומצותיו,

והרי נכנסנו ז"ע בשנה חדשה שהיא שנה תמימה, שנה ועיבורה, שנת השמיטה אשר עלי' נאמר שבת לה', (יעוין בפירוש הרמב"ן שם).
