Between the Throne and the Tenth (note 1: Between the day when Hashem sits on His Throne, Rosh Hashanah*, and the tenth day of Tishrei*, Yom Kippur*) 5719,

Greetings and blessings,

I received, with pleasure, the news of the celebration of the Bar Mitzvah* of your son, which took place during Shabbos Shuvah* (note 2: The 6th of Tishrei*). May Hashem* grant that his becoming subject to the Mitzvos* occur at a good and fruitful time, that his parents derive from him great satisfaction, a true satisfaction — that is, a Jewish satisfaction. Whoever sees him will recognize in him a progeny blessed of Hashem*. It is surely unnecessary to emphasize to your Bar Mitzvah* son, even though it is nonetheless judicious to do so, that one who reaches the age of thirteen, for long days and good years, then enters a new life — the life of a Jew fully subject to the Injunctions of our holy Torah*, Torah* of life, and its Mitzvos*, of which it is said: "One shall live by them." He Who gives the Torah* and commands the Mitzvah*, the Creator, blessed be He, commands all of this, and it is therefore beyond doubt that He also grants the strength and the means necessary for each person to assume the mission entrusted to him. Everything therefore depends only on the will of each person.

Every event is an effect of Divine Providence*, and the celebration of the Bar Mitzvah* will take place during Shabbos Shuvah*, between Rosh Hashanah*, when one is inscribed for a good year, and Yom Kippur*, when one is sealed to obtain it. Now, a good life for a Jew is one that is based on the Torah*, spiritually and materially alike. May Hashem* grant that you yourself and your wife derive true pleasure and satisfaction from your Bar Mitzvah* son and from your other children. And you will give me only good news, always and every day. With my blessing that you be definitively sealed for a good year,

בנועם קבלתי הבשורה טובה ע"ד חגיגת הבר מצוה של בנו... שי' שתתקיים בשבת שובה, ויהי רצון שתהא כניסתו למצוות בשעה טובה ומוצלחת והוריו ישבעו ממנו רב נחת, נחת אמתי שהוא נחת יהדותי, אשר כל רואהו יכירהו כי הוא זרע ברך ה'.

בטח למותר להדגיש לבנו הבר מצוה שי', אף שההדגשה יפה בכגון דא, שבמלאות לו י"ג שנה לאורך ימים ושנים טובות נכנס הוא לסדר חיים חדשים, חיים מלאים של יהודי מצווה ועושה לחיות על פי תורתנו הק' תורת חיים ומצוותי' שעליהן נאמר וחי בהם, וכיון שנותן התורה ומ;63636#&צוה המצוה הוא הבורא יתברך ויתעלה דורש את כל זאת, הרי אין כל ספק שהוא נותן גם הכחות והאמצעים לכל אחד ואחד למלא את המוטל עליו, ואין הדבר תלוי אלא ברצונו של אדם.

והרי הכל בהשגחה פרטית, שחגיגת הבר מצוה תתקיים בשבת שובה, שבין ראש השנה - זמן הכתיבה טובה, ובין יום הכפורים - זמן החתימה טובה, וחיים טובים ליהודי הם חיים על פי התורה ברוחניות וגשמיות גם יחד.

ויהי רצון שכ' ורעיתו שיחיו יראו עונג ונחת אמתי מבנם הבר מצוה ומשאר ילידיהם שיחיו, ויבשרו אך טוב תמיד כה"י.
