To the young man assuming a sacred mission, Yosef (note 1: Rav Y. Marton, of Lod. See, on his subject, Letter no. 6977),

Greetings and blessings,

I received, with pleasure, your letter of 27 Elul*, in which you speak of your sacred mission within the school Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak* Lubavitch* (note 2: Belonging to the network of the same name) of Lod. It is surely unnecessary to explain to you at length its greatness and importance. I will therefore limit myself to reminding you of the teaching of our Sages* according to which "the name has meaning," especially when it concerns the name of a Tzaddik*, leader of Israel. For a faithful shepherd does not abandon his flock, including when he ascends to heaven. He then invokes a great mercy for everything that concerns it. In the terms of the holy Zohar*, cited by the Alter Rebbe* in the Iggeres HaKodesh*, "the Tzaddik* who departs this world is found in all the worlds more than during his lifetime." All the more so is this the case for the leader of the generation, a collective soul who links his people — the individual souls attached to him and following his path — in particular those who put into practice his teachings in the domains for which he gave of himself when he lived here below. Regarding my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, this domain is education based on sacred values, precisely when they are illuminated by the clarity and the warmth of Chassidus* and all that it entails.

It follows from all this that every initiative, every effort in this matter is justified, especially in a holy institution bearing his name, causing satisfaction to the soul of the Tzaddik* and the leader. These actions strengthen the great mercy he invokes for the success of this school and of those who devote themselves to it. At times, it may seem that one faces difficulties or opposition, in particular from persons from whom one would expect help. This is precisely the proof that "Hashem* your Elokim* tests you in order to know..." (note 3: If you love Hashem* your Elokim*). As is known, the criterion in this matter is the following: every action, every opposition that is such as to prevent a Jew from putting into practice the Torah* and the Mitzvos* does not emanate from the right side (note 4: The side of good). You will consult, on this subject, the Hayom Yom*, at the date of 23 Sivan*.

May Hashem* grant that one make full use of the success and the blessing that are granted from above, that the Chabad* school be strengthened, among all the schools of the network and all the Chabad* institutions in general. It is certain that the blessings of Hashem* will multiply for each person, materially and spiritually. It is quite evident that this is addressed to all the teachers, men and women, to the leaders, to all those who come to the aid and assist in this accomplishment of the highest importance. Hashem* will grant them long life. With my blessing that you be definitively inscribed for a good year and to convey good news of all this,

בנועם קבלתי מכתבו מז"ך אלול, בו כותב אודות משרתו בקדש בבית הספר דאהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש אשר בלוד.

ועל גודל הענין וערך הדבר, בודאי אין צריך ביאור ואריכות, ורק באתי להדגיש ע"פ מאמר רז"ל, שמא מילתא היא, ובפרט בהנוגע לצדיק נשיא ישראל, אשר רועה נאמן לא יעזוב צאן מרעיתו גם בעלותו השמימה עומד ומעורר ר"ר על כל עניניהם, ובלשון הזהר הק' מובא באגה"ק לרבנו הזקן, צדיקא דאתפטר אשתכח בכולהו עלמין יתיר מבחיוהי, עאכו"כ בצדיק נשיא ישראל נשמה הכללית אשר מקשר הוא עמו נשמות הפרטיות שהן המקושרים אליו וההולכים בעקבותיו, ובעיקר אלו הממלאים הוראותיו באותן הענינים עליהם מסר נפשו בחיים חיותו, ואשר בהנוגע לכ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר, ה"ז ענין החינוך עטה"ק, ודוקא מואר באור וחום תורת החסידות ועניני',

שמהנ"ל מובן, אשר כל השתדלות ויגיעה כדאיות הן בענין זה ובמוסד קדוש הנקרא על שמו וגורם נח"ר לנשמת הצדיק הנשיא, שעי"ז עוד מוסיף בהתעוררות ר"ר שלו על הצלחת המוסד והצלחת כל העוסקים בזה.

ומה שנראים קישוים ועניני התנגדות ולפעמים עניני התנגדות מכאלה, אשר אדרבה צריכים היו לסייע בזה בכל תוקף, ה"ז עצמו הוכחה אשר מנסה ה' אלקיכם אתכם לדעת וגו'.

וכידוע הבחינה בזה, שכל פעולה והתנגדות האמורה ה"ז מסוג זה, שמונעת את איש הישראלי מענין של תורה ומצות, והרי מקורה לא מצד ימין, ועיין היום יום כ"ג סיון.

ויהי רצון שינצלו במילואה את ההצלחה והברכה שמשפיעים מלמעלה ויתבסס בי"ס חב"ד זה בתוככי שאר מוסדות הרשת ומוסדות חב"ד בכלל ובודאי שיתוסף בברכות השי"ת כו"כ לכאו"א מהם בגשמיות וברוחניות.

מובן וגם פשוט שכל האמור מופנה הוא לכל סגל המורים מורות, אנשי ההנהלה וכל המסייעים ומשתדלים בענין הכי נעלה האמור שליט"א.
