I am responding to your letter of 7/9, in which you tell me that you are very often questioned about matters concerning Judaism, about your desire to conform to the teachings of the Torah*, to practice the Mitzvos*. You ask me how to respond and what attitude to adopt. In general, there is no need to engage in such discussions. When you are asked these questions, you should advise them to address themselves to a Rav who rules on Halachah*, who is in your area, or to a head of a Yeshivah*. Such people study the Torah* every day and they find therein the explanations and the answers to all questions.

You will therefore answer only that every Jew must, this being self-evident, put into practice the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, given by the Creator of the world, Who directs it, by Hashem*, blessed be He. And if it turns out that this is difficult and requires a particular effort, it is precisely about this that the verse says: "Hashem* your Elokim* tests you in order to know whether you love Hashem*." But such a test is only momentary. When one overcomes it, one receives the blessings of Hashem*. You must therefore maintain conduct befitting a virtuous Jewish girl. Indeed, each one of them is called a daughter of Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah. If you truly desire it, you will be able to act in this manner and know success.

It would be good for you to visit the office of Beis Rivkah* and the institutions Ohalei Yosef Lubavitch*, in Casablanca. You will meet the teachers of Beis Rivkah* there, you will speak with them, and they will be able to explain to you the answers to the questions you raise, in case they are raised once again in the future. With my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

ברכה ושלום! במענה למכתבה מיום 9/7, בו כותבת אשר לפעמים תכופות קורה, ששואלים אותה בעניני יהדות, ולהטעמים שלה שרוצה להתנהג כפי הוראת התורה ולקיים מצותי', ושואלת מה לענות על זה ואיך להתנהג.

והנה בכלל אין כדאי להכנס בוויכוחים מעין אלו, וכשישאלוה, הרי טוב שתענה, שבשאלות כאלו עליהם לפנות להרב מורה הוראה אשר בסביבתם, או להראש ישיבה, שהרי הם עוסקים בתורה יום יום, שבה נמצאים התירוצים והביאורים לכל השאלות, ורק תסבירם, אשר דבר פשוט שכל אחד ואחת מישראל, צריך לקיים את התורה ואת המצוה, שניתנו מבורא עולם ומנהיגו הוא השם יתברך ויתעלה, ואם קשור זה בקישוים ודורש התאמצות, הרי על זה נאמר, כי מנסה ה' אלקיכם אתכם לדעת הישכם אוהבים את ה', ואין זה אלא נסיון לזמן, וכשעומדים בנסיון, מקבלים ברכות השם יתברך ויתעלה, ועלי' להמשיך בהנהגתה כראוי לבת ישראל טובה, שהרי כל אחת מהן נקראת בשם בת שרה רבקה רחל ולאה, וכשתרצה באמת תוכל להתנהג ככה וגם תצליח.

מהנכון שתבקר במשרד בית רבקה, במוסדות אהלי יוסף יצחק ליובאוויטש אשר בקסבלנקה, ותראה שם את המורות דבית רבקה ותדבר עמהן אשר יוכלו להסבירה את השאלות אודותן כותבת, וגם אם תהיינה עוד במשך הזמן.
