To the young Yosef (note 1: Rav Y. Kievman. See, on his subject, Letters no. 5896 and 6059),

Greetings and blessings,

I am responding to your letter of 4 Elul*, in which you tell me that you are not certain of obtaining an extension of your visa (note 2: Presumably to remain in France). In this matter, each country has different legislation. You must therefore verify what the situation is in the countries where you might possibly settle. Then, you will choose the one that suits you best, or you will return to the Holy Land, may it be restored and rebuilt.

At a propitious moment, I will mention the person you cite at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, in accordance with what you write in your letter. You will surely find the right words to explain to his father that the more one adds to the practice of the Torah* and the Mitzvos*, the more one multiplies the blessings of Hashem* for what a person needs, as well as the members of his family.

You mention the translation of the Mishnah* into French for the students. You are apparently referring to a true translation and not to the explanation that must be given to them when teaching it. In my opinion, if this is necessary, one should translate only the chapters presenting laws that are still in effect at the present time, for example tractates Berachos* or Shabbos*. For the time being, this will surely be sufficient to satisfy the need. With my blessing that you be inscribed and sealed for a good year,

שלום וברכה! במענה למכתבו מד' באלול, בו כותב הספיקות בקישור הארכת הוויזה וכו'.

וכיון שאין החוקים בזה שוים במדינה ומדינה, עליו לברר פרטי הענינים בזה באותן המדינות שבאים בחשבון שיהגר לשם, ואז יבחר בהמתאימה יותר או שיחזור לאה"ק ת"ו.

בעת רצון יזכירו את ו שי' אודותו כותב על הציון הק' של כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע מתאים לתוכן כתבו.

ובודאי ימצא אותיות מתאימות להסביר לאביו שי' שככל שמוסיפין בעניני תורה ומצות מתוסף בברכות השי"ת בהמצטרך לאדם וביתו.

במש"כ ע"ד תרגום משניות לצרפתית עבור תלמידים צ וכנראה כוונתו לתרגום כפשוטו (ולא פי' המשנה לתלמידים בעת לימודו אתם) צ ולדעתי באם יש הכרח צ יש לתרגם רק אותם הפרקים שהם הלכות ונוהגות גם עתה (ברכות, שבת וכיו"ב), והרי גם הן תספיקנה דרישות ההכרח, עכ"פ לעת עתה.
