Igrot Kodesh · Letter 648 — Health

By the grace of Hashem,

21 Tammuz 5710,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

emissary of the Sages, Rav ...,

I greet you and bless you.

I received your letter of 13 Tammuz, and even before it reached me I had already sent you the booklet published on the occasion of the festival of liberation, to your address at... It has no doubt reached you wherever you are now.

Previously, I had received your request for a blessing, and it was read near the tomb of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, on 12 Tammuz, and then in his office, where he received people and granted blessings. It is therefore certain that he granted you his blessings, and the Holy One, blessed be He, will fulfill them completely. From time to time, you will give me good news of the state of health of your wife — that she is conforming to the doctors' instructions, adopting the diet they have prescribed for her.

You ask me whether a woman may go out in the street with only a sheitel*, without a hat. Without entering into the question itself, I do not see why one must envisage such a modification in the middle of her pregnancy. At present, what matters is only that this proceed well, without pain, that the birth occur in its time, and that the child be in good health. Only afterward will you raise this question.

מכתבו מי"ג תמוז נתקבל אבל עוד מקודם לזה נשלח הקונ' לחג הגאולה ע"פ האדרעס שלהם ל... ובטח סו"ס הגיע לידם במקומם עתה.

הפ"נ מהם נתקבל מקודם, ונקרא על ציון כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר הכ"מ בי"ב תמוז ואח"כ גם בהיכלו שהיו נכנסים לשם ליחידות ולנתינת פ"נ. ובודאי נתן ברכותיו והקב"ה ימלא אותן במילואן, ובטח יודיע מזמן לזמן מבריאותה הטוב של זוגתו תי' ואשר ממלאה אחרי הוראת הרופאים באכו"ש וכיו"ב.

ובשאלתו ע"ד לצאת בפאה נכרית אבל בלא כסוי, הנה מבלי להכנס בגוף הדבר הרי למה זה לעשות שינוי כזה והדומה לו באמצע העבור, והעיקר עתה שיהי' זמן עבורה כשורה ובלא כאבים, ותהי' הלידה בעתה ובזמנה בנקל ולד חייא וקיימא, ואחר כך תשאל ע"ד הנ"ל.
