By the grace of Hashem,

7 Tammuz 5710,

To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem,

Rav ... HaCohen,

I greet you and bless you.

I am enclosing the booklet that has just appeared on the occasion of the festival of liberation of 12 Tammuz. I am certain that you will study it yourself and, in addition, make it available to many other people. The merit of the many depends on you.

It is still difficult to evoke, in writing, the histalkus* of the Rebbe. Nonetheless, we must always keep present in mind that our responsibility — that of each one of us — is increased. How much more is this the case for those who had the merit of seeing him many times, of being seen by him many times, that he thought of them very many times.

In such people, the memory must reinforce the moral forces to the point of being capable of yielding, even if one is convinced of being right, as the Rebbe says in the Chassidic discourse of Shabbos Teshuvah 5710, published in booklet no. 70.

We must always remember that we are the men of the Rebbe, and ask ourselves: "When I act in this way, is the Rebbe pleased with me? Have I sufficiently rejected evil, have I transformed it as one should when one is the Rebbe's man?"

How can Cohanim be resentful? They are the descendants of Aharon HaCohen, who "loved peace and pursued peace." How much more should they do so when they are the disciples of my father-in-law, the Rebbe, who has always advocated love of one's fellow, asked one to consider only the qualities of the other. You will consult, on this, the sicha* contained in the enclosed booklet.

I think it is not necessary to say more, and that very soon you will inform me that peace reigns, in every respect, with you.

עדיין קשה לכתוב אודות הסתלקות הרבי ,כ״ק מו״ח אדמו״ר הכ״מ.

אבל מוכרחים לזכור תמיד את האחריות המוגדלת ,שהדבר הטיל על כל

אחד מאתנו ,ובפרט על אלה שזכו לראותו פעמים רבות וזכו שהוא יראה

אותם פעמים רבות וחשב עליהם פעמים רבות.

ואנשים אלו ,צריך הזכרון לגרום להם התגברות כוחותיהם הרוחניים

ביתר שאת ויתר עז ,ובפרט כדי להיות ׳מעביר על מדותיר ,אפילו אם

חושבים שצודקים לחלוטין ,כפי שהרבי כותב במאמר של שבת תשובה

ה׳שי״ת)קונטרס ע׳(.

יש לזכור תמיד ,שאנו אנשי הרבי ,ולהעמיד לעצמו את השאלה :האם

הרבי מרוצה ממני שכך אני נוהגז האם יש לי די אתכפיא ואתהפכא כראוי

לאיש של הרבי!

. . .ואם כהנים הם קפדנים -הרי הם נכדי אהרן הכהן ,שענינו הי׳

״אוהב שלום ורודף שלום״ .ובפרט כהנים תלמידי הרבי ,כ״ק מו״ח

אדמו״ר הכ״מ ,שתמיד דרש אהבת ישראל ולראות בזולת רק את מעלותיו
