You have informed me that you had a son, with Mazal Tov*, that he has been sealed in the covenant of our father Avraham* (note 1: He received the circumcision) and that he has been named Yosef Yitzchak. Here is my response. May Hashem* grant that, just as he has entered this covenant, he be introduced to the Torah*, to the nuptial canopy, and to good deeds. You will educate him, with your wife, in abundance. With my blessing of Mazal Tov*,

Regarding what you report about the name (note 2: The addressee of this letter wrote: "Some people told me that I should have given him my grandfather's name"), it is clear that there is absolutely no reason to call it into question. Indeed, the Arizal* specifies, in the twenty-third introduction of the Shaar HaGilgulim*, that: "The Holy One, blessed be He, places in the mouth of the father and the mother the name that the soul needs. This name is engraved above, in the heavenly Throne."
