To the attention of Mr. Yitzchak Korn (note 1: See, on his subject, Letter no. 6018),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have duly received your letter of 16 Sivan* and I seize this opportunity to underscore to you my hope that our discussion will receive concrete consequences, on the points we discussed. During the days that have elapsed since then, I had the occasion to learn, and, deliberately, I do not use the expression "by chance," for each of us believes that what happens in the world is the result of Divine Providence and not of chance, I therefore had the occasion to learn that the influence you exercise is even wider than what I had imagined a priori (note 2: The addressee of this letter was, presumably, a leader of the ruling party in Eretz Yisrael*). This reinforces my hope that you will make full use of it in order to spread the idea that those who are appointed by the people to direct the affairs concerning the entirety of this people, or even one or several wide circles of this people, must not, evidently, be conditioned by party interests, nor even by the profit that this party could derive from directing affairs. Indeed, this direction has been entrusted to them only for the good of the people.

In other words, and to adopt a more pleasant formulation, the less interest there is for the party, however important it may be to represent it, the more there will be for what concerns the entirety of the people, for the representation of the entirety of this people. Moreover, one can verify in practice, including during electoral periods, that such an attitude is favorable for the party representative and that it therefore serves the interest of this party. You write to me that you will respond to several questions that we discussed after your return to the Holy Land. Despite this, I hope that you will do so while you are still here. For several of them, there is reason to hope for a more favorable outcome by dealing with them outside of Eretz Yisrael*. With my respects and my blessing to convey good news,

מאשר אני בזה קבלת מכתבו מט"ז בסיון, ומנצל הזדמנות זו להדגיש תקותי אשר שיחתנו בטח תביא תוצאות בפועל בהנקודות אודותן נידבר. וכיון שבימים שעברו מאז נודעתי בהזדמנות צ והנני מדייק שלא להשתמש בביטוי של מקרה, שהרי כל אחד מאתנו מאמין שכל המתרחש הוא בהשגחה פרטית ולא במקרה צ אשר לכבודו השפעה יותר גדולה גם ממה ששערתי מראש, ולכן עוד נתחזקה תקותי שכ' ינצל השפעתו במילואה להחדיר הרעיון, אשר אלה הממונים מטעם העם לנהל בפועל ענינים הנוגעים לכל העם כולו או לחוג רחב או לחוגים רחבים מן העם, הרי פשוט שאין להם להיות מושפעים מנימוקים של מפלגה ואפילו לא מרווחים מפלגתיים בהנוגע להנהלת הענינים שבפועל שנמסרו לידם לטובת כל העם.

במלים אחרות וגם נעימות יותר, כל כמה שלא יהי' תוכן וכו' בענינים של מפלגה וככל המעלה להיות ב"כ של מפלגה הרי גדול פי כמה התוכן בעניני העם כולו ולהיות בא-כוח העם כולו. ולא עוד אלא כפי שרואים במוחש ואפילו בימי הבחירות, הנה הנהגה האמורה מביאה תועלת לבאי-כוח המפלגה גם ברווחים מפלגתיים.

אף שכותב שבמספר שאלות שבררנו יטפל לאחרי שובו לאה"ק ת"ו, תקותי בכל זאת צ שיתענין לטפל בהן גם בהיותו כאן, והרי בכמה מהן יש לקוות להצלחה יותר גדולה על ידי הטיפול בהן בחו"ל.
