A) I am responding to your letter of 22 Iyar*, in which you ask me before whom to take your examination. I am surprised by this question, for you have become, at a good and fruitful moment, a student of the preparatory class of the holy Yeshivah* Toras Emes* (note 1: In Jerusalem), founded and directed by our holy masters, whose merit protects us. Consequently, for all questions concerning examinations and study, you must follow the instructions given to you by the administration of this holy Yeshivah* Toras Emes*.
B) When to study the Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya* (note 2: Within the framework of the three daily studies instituted by the Previous Rebbe*)? In a general manner, it is explained, in the introduction of the HaYom Yom*, that the Tehillim*, according to their monthly distribution, are read after the Shacharis* prayer. As for the Chumash* with the commentary of Rashi* and the passage of the Tanya*, it is clear that it is preferable to study them in proximity to the Shacharis* prayer and, if possible, immediately after it. If, for whatever reason, this is not possible, one can still do so during the following night (note 3: See, on this subject, Letters no. 1502 and 2467).
Regarding the customs related to the wearing of Tefillin*, you will inquire of the elder Chassidim* of the holy city of Jerusalem, may it be restored and rebuilt.

ולפלא השאלה שהרי בשעה טובה ומוצלחת נעשה לתלמיד למכינת הישיבה הק' תורת אמת מיסודה ובהנהלתה של כ"ק רבותינו נשיאינו זצוקללה"ה נבג"מ זי"ע, ובמילא בשאלות בחינות ולימוד וכיו"ב עליו לעשות מתאים להוראות הנהלת הישיבה הק' תורת אמת.
ב)זמן השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא.
בכלל הרי כבר מבואר בהקדמה להיום יום, אשר אמירת השיעור תהלים - כפי שנחלק התהלים לימי החדש - הוא לאחרי תפלת שחרית, ולימוד חומש עם פירוש רש"י ושיעור תניא, מובן שטוב יותר בסמיכות להתפלה של שחרית ומה טוב תיכף, ובאם לסיבה אי אפשר זאת אז משלימים גם בלילה שלאחרי זה.
בהנוגע למנהגי הנחת תפילין, הנה ישאל אצל זקני אנ"ש אשר בעיה"ק ירושלים ת"ו.
