By the grace of Hashem,

To Mrs. ...,

I bless you and greet you.

I learned from the Rav who fears Hashem, devotes himself to communal needs, and is full of zeal — Rav Yaakov Hecht[1] — that you underwent a surgical intervention. As he wished, I read a request for a blessing in the office of my father-in-law, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, that you should have a speedy recovery.

You are surely complying with the doctor's prescriptions.[2] To be sure, healing comes from Hashem, but, as the Torah reports, He desires that this be obtained through an intermediary — in this case, the doctor and the treatment he prescribes.

Moreover, one must always keep in mind that the true remedies are the Mitzvos* and the good deeds that Hashem commands each one to put into practice, and which procure health and strength.

With my wishes for a speedy recovery, and with greetings to your son — from whom you will derive much nachas*, Jewish nachas — as well as from his entire family,
