I am responding to your letter from this Wednesday, in which you tell me that your secular studies disturb the constancy and the ardor of your sacred studies, especially now that you are in the "last English class," according to your expression, which seems to indicate that you will soon complete these secular studies, although it is not specified whether this will be next month or even later.

If you complete your secular studies next month or, at the very least, in the near future, it depends only on you to study our holy Torah* with constancy and ardor, in a constantly increasing manner. Indeed, our Sages* give us the assurance that: "when one makes efforts, they are crowned with success." Thus, it would be good to devote yourself to sacred studies for two years, without being disturbed by useless thoughts, whatever they may be. One can verify in practice that such a manner of studying conditions the existence of a Jew on this earth.

You surely know of the three studies of Chumash*, Tehillim*, and Tanya*. At the very least, you will adopt them in the future. Every weekday, before the morning prayer, you will set aside a few coins for tzedakah* and Hashem* will grant you success. With my blessing to convey good news,

במענה למכתבו מיום הרביעי, בו מתאר איך שהלימודי חול מבלבלים להתמדה ושקידה בלימודי הקדש ובפרט כלשונו עכשיו באחרית האנגלי.

וכנראה מזה, בקרוב עליו כבר לגמור הלימודי חול, אף שאין ברור אם בקרוב ממש חדש הבא או במאוחר מזה.

והנה אם בעוד חדש או בכל אופן בזמן קרוב גומר כבר הלימודי חול, הרי אין הדבר תלוי אלא בו, ללמוד בהתמדה ושקידה בתוה"ק ובאופן דמוסיף והולך, שע"ז הובטחנו מרז"ל, יגעת ומצאת, ומה טוב שעכ"פ שנתים ילמוד לימודי קדש באופן האמור מבלי לבלבל עצמו במחשבות זרות איזה שתהיינה, ורואים במוחש שלימוד באופן האמור נוגע לכל ימי משך חיי איש הישראלי עלי אדמות.

בודאי יודע משלשת השיעורים דחומש תהלים ותניא ועכ"פ ישמור עליהם מכאן ולהבא, ובכל יום חול קודם תפלת הבקר יפריש איזה פרוטות לצדקה. והשי"ת יצליחו.
