To the participants in the founding and establishment meeting of the association of Chabad* women and girls, in New Haven, may Hashem* grant you long life,
Blessings and greetings,
I have learned from the Rabbanit*, Mrs. Rivka Hecht, that you gathered for the above purpose, that you took the decision to organize a Melaveh Malka* and to invite women from wider circles (note 1: Outside of Chabad*), in order to broaden your association and to make it known, as well as its objectives.
May Hashem* grant you success, to transmit Judaism in ever wider circles. This spreading will be permeated with Chassidic* light and warmth. Its success will be reinforced thereby. And you know the saying of the Alter Rebbe* (note 2: See, on this subject, Letters no. 4769, 6052, 6092, and 6328), founder of Chabad* Chassidus*, according to which it does not address a specific group among the children of Israel. It belongs literally to the entire people. Nevertheless, in everything that is part of the domain of holiness, advancement is progressive. And the verse says, regarding the banishment of evil and the victory of good: "I will send him out little by little." May Hashem* grant that all of this be accomplished in joy and enthusiasm. נעם לי להודע מהרבנית מרת רבקה תחי' העכט אשר נתאספו לתכלית האמורה וההחלטה לסדר מלוה מלכה ולהזמין אלי' נשי ישראל מחוג יותר רחב, ועל ידי זה להרחיב ולפרסם אגודתן וכן המטרות שלה.
ויהי רצון אשר חפץ ה' בידן יצליח להפיץ היהדות המסורה בחוגים ההולכים ומתרחבים, הפצה חדורה אור וחום חסידותי, שעל ידי זה גם תתרבה ההצלחה, והרי ידוע פתגם רבנו הזקן, מייסד תורת חסידות חב"ד, אשר שיטה זו אינה רק בשביל חוגים מסוימים בעמנו בני ישראל, כ"א שייכת היא לכל העם כולו.
אלא שככל ענין שבקדושה הסדר הוא צעד אחר צעד וכלשון הכתוב בהנוגע לגירוש הרע ונצחון הטוב, מעט מעט אגרשנו.
ויהי רצון שתעשינה כל הנ"ל בשמחה ובטוב לבב מתוך בריאות הנכונה של כל אחת מהן הן ובני ביתן שי'.
