To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, of many accomplishments, filled with enthusiasm, Rav Sh. Z. (note 1: Rav Shneur Zalman Shargay, of Jerusalem. See, on his subject, Letters no. 6089 and 6348),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have duly received your letter, with what was attached to it, the circulars and the instructions regarding kashrus* and religion aboard ships. I have also received the supplementary documents that were sent to me by your office. I thank you very much for having thought to send me all of this. Although you say nothing about it, I hope that you received, in its time, my letter (note 2: This is Letter no. 6089), to which was attached a copy of the instructions concerning the machinery or, at least, a part of them, showing that these machines must necessarily be operated by hand, every day and several times a day. Consequently, you have surely ruled the Halachah* without ambiguity in this matter, in conformity with what we discussed when you were here.

I send you my respects and my blessing that Hashem* grant you at last the merit and the success of knowing an elevation (note 3: Aliyah*, also in the sense of settling in the Holy Land), material and spiritual at once, all the more so since, among Jews, these two dimensions are linked. They are, indeed, "a unique nation on the earth," which means that, even in their preoccupations linked to the earth, they do not separate, Hashem* forbid, from the true Unity. And you will consult, on this subject, Iggeres HaKodesh*, of the Alter Rebbe*, at chapter 9. In this way, Eretz Yisrael* will indeed be the most elevated land, including in an evident manner, in the eyes of the nations, in every sense of the term. Then will be fulfilled the promise according to which: "Many peoples will come and say: Come, let us go up, for it is from Zion that the Torah* emanates and the Word of Hashem* from Jerusalem." מאשר הנני קבלת מכתבו עם המצורף אליו. חוזרים והוראות בעניני כשרות ודת באניות, כן נתקבל ג"כ מילואים להנ"ל הנשלח ע"י משרדו, ות"ח ת"ח על שימת לבבו בשלחו אלי כל האמור.

אף שאיני מזכיר עד"ז, תקותי שבשעתו נתקבל מכתבי עם העתק ההוראה בהנוגע להמכונות או חלק מהמכונות, שמוכרח הפעלתם ביד, בכל יום כמה פעמים במשך המעל"ע. ובהתאם להאמור, בודאי פעל כ' בהנוגע להוצאת פס"ד ברור בהאמור, מתאים למה שנדבר כאן.

בכבוד ובברכה אשר סו"ס יזכה השי"ת ויצליח, אשר תהי' העלי', עלי' בגשמיות ועלי' ברוחניות גם יחד, ובפרט שבהנוגע לעם ישראל זה בזה תלוי, שהרי גוי אחד הם בארץ, דהיינו שגם בעניני ארץ לא יפרדו מאחד האמת ח"ו. (עיין אגרת הקדש לרבנו הזקן סי' ט'). ותהי' ארץ ישראל גבוה מכל הארצות, גם בגלוי לעיני כל הארץ, בכל המובנים, כי יקוים היעוד, והלכו עמים רבים ואמרו לכו ונעלה וגו' כי מציון תצא תורה ודבר ה' מירושלים.
