Blessings and greetings,

I am responding to your letter of May 7, in which you ask me what you must do to have a fruitful Mazal* and a happy life. The Creator of the world, Who directs it, has already given the answer to this question, as it is written in His Torah*: "If you walk in My decrees, if you keep My mitzvos* and accomplish them, I will give" all the blessings that are subsequently enumerated by this Parshah*, that of Vayikra*, at chapter 26, from verse 3. It is also said, at the verse Devarim* 28:1-2: "And it shall be, if you listen to the voice of Hashem* your Elokim*, all the blessings will come upon you." And the mitzvos* thus enumerated are defined, in detail, in the Shulchan Aruch* and in various texts.

You ask me when to marry. It is not customary to predict the future, for the verse Devarim* 18:13 says: "You shall be wholesome with Hashem* your Elokim*." A Jewish man and a Jewish woman must therefore strengthen their trust in the Creator, blessed be He, Who grants a happy life. For their part, they must adopt a conduct in conformity with His Will, His Torah* and His mitzvos*. I hope that you study and that you have the conduct befitting Jewish young women, each one being called: "daughter of Sarah, Rivkah, Rachel, and Leah." You will influence your friends in this direction and Hashem* will grant you the success of conveying good news of all this.

ברכה ושלום!

במענה למכתבה מיום 5/7, בו שואלת מה עלי' לעשות בכדי שיצליח מזלה ותהי' מאושרת בחיים.

והנה כבר ענה בורא עולם ומנהיגו על שאלה זו, ככתוב בתורתו, אם בחקתי תלכו ואת מצותי תשמרו ועשיתם אותם, ונתתי וגו' וכל הברכות האמורות בפרשה (ויקרא כו, ג ואילך). ועוד כתיב, והי' אם שמוע תשמע בקול ה' אלקיך וגו' ובאו עליך כל הברכות וגו' (דברים כח, א, ב). ומצות האמורות הרי מפורשות הן לפרטיהן בשולחן ערוך ובכמה מקומות.

ובשאלתה, מתי תנשא לאיש וכו', הלא אין זה בנוהג לחפש עתידות, כי הרי נאמר תמים תהי' עם ה' אלקיך (דברים יח, יג), אלא שעל איש ואשה הישראלים להיות חזקים בבטחונם בהבורא יתברך ויתעלה, אשר יתן להם חיים מאושרים, שהרי הם מצדם יתנהגו מתאים לרצונו לתורתו ומצותיו.

תקותי שלומדת ומתנהגת כיאות לבת ישראל שכל אחת מהן נקראת בת שרה רבקה רחל ולאה, ותשפיע גם על החבירות שלה בכגון דא, והשם יתברך יצליחה לבשר טוב בכל האמור.
