To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem*, Rav Chaim Meir (note 1: Rav Ch. M. Heller, of New York),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have received, with pleasure, your letter from this Monday, as well as what it contained. At a propitious moment, I will mention your name and that of your wife at the holy resting place of my father-in-law, the Rebbe*, whose merit protects us, in accordance with what you write to me. May Hashem* grant that for many years to come, you participate in Chassidic* gatherings in which words of encouragement to the Torah* and mitzvos* are uttered, permeated with Chassidic* light and vitality. You will also influence your surroundings in this direction, for nothing withstands the will.

You also mention, in your letter, the ten measures of gold found in the offerings of the tribal chiefs (note 2: On the occasion of the inauguration of the Sanctuary in the desert, from Rosh Chodesh* Nissan*). Our Sages* explain the repetition made by the Torah* on this subject, "ten, ten," in the Zohar*, volume 3, page 11b, and the Kuntres U'Maayan* comments on it, at the beginning of the sixteenth discourse. The Ten Commandments correspond to the ten Utterances of the creation of the world, and one must reveal the former in the latter and, through their intermediary, in the world and in all that concerns it. This is a perpetual obligation, in particular for those who have the merit of being able to influence their surroundings. Indeed, our Sages* have informed us that the Holy One, blessed be He, desired to possess a dwelling here below. On this subject, you will also consult chapter 36 of the Tanya*. ויהי רצון שעוד רבות בשנים ישתתף בהתועדויות בם נדבר דברי התעוררות לתורה ומצותי' חדורים אור וחיות חסידותי וגם בסביבתו ישפיע בכיוון זה ואין לך דבר העומד בפני הרצון.

והרי מזכיר גם במכתבו הענין דעשרה זהב שבקרבנות הנשיאים וידועה דרז"ל (זהר ח"ג יא, ב. וראה קונטרס ומעין ריש מט"ז) על הכפל עשרה עשרה, אשר עשרת הדברות מכוונים וצריך להמשיכם בעשרה מאמרות בהם נברא העולם, ועי"ז בעולם עצמו ועניניו, וחיוב זה הרי תמידי הוא ובפרט לאלו שחוננו בכח השפעה בסביבתם וכמו שהודיעו רז"ל אשר נתאוה הקב"ה להיות לו ית' דירה בתחתונים, יעוין ג"כ תניא פרק לו.
