To the great Rav*, distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and devotes himself to communal needs, Rav Naftali (note 1: Rav N. Gluskin, of Ramat HaSharon. See, on his subject, Letter no. 5639),

You ask me about the end of chapter 4 of Shaar HaYichud VeHaEmunah*, which refers to the letters Mem, Nun, Tzaddik, Peh, Kaf. You will find the explanation of all this, according to Chassidus*, in the Siddur* (note 2: Of the Alter Rebbe*, with the commentaries of Chassidus*), in the discourse on Rosh Hashanah* entitled: "Hashem*, open my lips."

You also cite Iggeres HaKodesh*, chapter 5, page 107b, according to which the lower Heh (note 3: The second of the Tetragrammaton), in the way it is written, alludes to the four cardinal points. But, this text does not actually allude to these four cardinal points, for if that were the case, one would also have to mention the above and the below, which are discussed beforehand. In fact, it limits itself to describing the extent of this lower Heh, which, by its length and its breadth, evokes expansiveness. However, the first Heh (note 4: The first of the Tetragrammaton) shows the extent of the hidden intellect, which is limited to the heart, whereas the lower Heh extends to speech, then, subsequently, above, below, and to the four cardinal points,

במש"כ באגה"ק ס"ה (קז ב) ה' תתאה בכתיבתה כו' מורה כו' ולד' סטרין -

אין הכוונה שהכתיבה מורה על ד' סטרין (וא"כ הי' צ"ל שמורה גם על מעלה ומטה שמזכיר לפני זה).

אלא שבזה מפרט באיזה התפשטות מדובר בה' תתאה. ז.א. ה"א בכתיבתה (אורך ורוחב) מורה על התפשטות. אלא שבה' ראשונה זוהי התפשטות השכל הנעלם ומסתיימת בלב, משא"כ בה' תתאה היא התפשטות בדבור שמזה נמשך ומתפשט מעומ"ט וד' סטרין.
