I am responding to your letter of the first day of Rosh Chodesh* Iyar*. You know my opinion on the subject discussed (note 2: Is it preferable to rent a house or to buy one? See, on this subject, Letter no. 6204). It is indeed preferable to buy a house rather than to rent one. Indeed, the rent paid to someone can be used instead to pay the mortgage. This is self-evident. Regarding a specific house (note 3: Which one to buy?), one must, of course, consult with those who are specialists in this field.
May Hashem* grant you the success of conveying good news of all this, as well as of the addition that will be made to strengthen and spread Judaism, in general, and the spreading of the wellsprings (note 4: Of Chassidus*), in particular, which is the essential point. כבר ידוע דעתי בכגון דא, שנכון הדבר לקנות בית ולא לשכור דירה, שהרי באותן דמי שכירות שמשלמים לאחר, יש לשלם המשכנתא לעצמו, וק"ל. ומובן שבהנוגע לדירה מסוימה, יש להתדבר עם מומחים במקצוע זה, והשי"ת יצליחו לבשר טוב בכל האמור וכן בהנוגע להוספה בעניני החזקת היהדות והפצתה בכלל והפצת המעינות בפרט שזוהי הנקודה התיכונה.
