To the distinguished Chassid* who fears Hashem* and carries out a sacred mission, Rav Yoshua Nachum, and his wife, the Rabbanit*, Mrs. Nechama Tzipa (note 1: Rav Y. N. Goodman and his wife, of New Haven),

Shalom* u'vracha*,

I have received, with pleasure, your letter of 28 Nissan*, with what it contained — photographs of your children, to whom Hashem* will grant long life. May Hashem* grant that you raise them, together with your wife, to Torah*, to the marriage canopy, and to good deeds, with breadth of mind, in good physical and moral health, with, of course, joy and enthusiasm.

I was particularly pleased to learn, from your letter, that you taught in your new home the laws of Pesach* in the Shulchan Aruch* of the Alter Rebbe*, author of the Tanya* and halachic* authority of the hidden part of the Torah*, author of the Shulchan Aruch* and halachic* authority of the revealed part of the Torah*. You also explained that Pesach* brings liberation from everything pertaining to Egypt and limitations, including those in the domain of holiness — not just once per generation, but truly every day (note 2: See, on this subject, Letter no. 6179). It is said, indeed, that "one must consider oneself as having left Egypt on this very day." The mitzvah* of remembrance, as defined by the Torah*, is not merely superficial. It consists of reliving what happened. And, before asking this of a Jewish man or woman, one first instills in them the necessary strength to achieve it. Moreover, it is said that "the Holy One, blessed be He, comes to his aid," and one can understand what follows from this. With my blessing to convey good news of all this,

נעם לי לקבל מכתבו מכ"ח ניסן עם המוסגר בו תמונת ילידיהם שליט"א.

ויהי רצון אשר יגדלום הוא וזוגתו תחי' לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים מתוך הרחבת הדעת ובריאות בגשמיות וברוחניות ומובן וגם פשוט בשמחה ובטוב לבב.

ונעם בפרט לקרות במכתבו מלימודו בביתם החדש בהלכות פסח בשו"ע רבנו הזקן בעל התניא - פוסק בנסתר דתורה - והשו"ע - פוסק בנגלה דתורה, אשר הוא ביאר ענין הפסח שזהו חירות מכל עניני מצרים וגבולים ואפילו מצרים וגבולים דקדושה. והוסיף בזה בספר התניא קדישא, שהחיוב לצאת ממצרים וגבולים הוא לא רק פעם אחת בכל דור אלא בכל יום ויום וכהלשון שם לראות עצמו כאילו היום יצא ממצרים, והרי מצות התורה בענין הזכירה, אינם מן השפה ולחוץ, כי אם איבער לעבען דאס, וקודם שדורשים זה מאיש ואשה הישראלים הרי ניתנו להם הכחות למלאות זה בפועל, ולא עוד אלא שהקב"ה עוזרו, והפועל יוצא בודאי מובן.
