By the grace of Hashem*,

I am responding to your letter from this Monday, in which you tell me that you are eighteen years old and that you are a Yeshivah* student. You share with me what is being said in your surroundings about your future.

It is quite evident that you must continue to study our holy Torah* within the Yeshivah*, for it is the channel and the vessel enabling one to receive the blessings of the Holy One, blessed be He, Who gives the Torah*. He alone provides the sustenance of each person, with goodness, grace, benevolence, and mercy. It is certain that by fulfilling the mitzvos* in the best manner, one multiplies the blessings of Hashem*, including for earning one's living in the appropriate way, when the time comes. There are several thousand young men of your age and older who devote themselves to the study of the Torah* with ardor and enthusiasm. And, they know success. Several of them have already settled down and earn their living, after having studied the Torah*. What is well known needs no proof. I hope that you will find acquaintances who will explain all of this to those who tell you otherwise. May Hashem* grant that you study the Torah* with constancy and enthusiasm, concentrating all your efforts upon it, and that the promise of our holy Torah* be fulfilled: "if you make efforts, they will be crowned with success." With my blessing to study the Torah* with fear of Hashem*,

במענה למכתבו מיום השני, בו כותב שהוא בגיל שמונה עשרה שנה ולומד בישיבה, ומה שאומרים לו בסביבתו בהנוגע לעתידו.

והנה פשוט הדבר שעליו להמשיך בלימודו בישיבה לימוד תוה"ק שהרי היא הצנור והכלי לקבלת ברכות הקב"ה נותן התורה שהוא רק הוא הזן ומפרנס לכל בטוב בחן ובחסד וברחמים, ובודאי שהידור בקיום המצות שלו ה"ז הוספה לברכות השי"ת גם בהנוגע להסתדרותו בענינים של פרנסה כשיבוא הזמן לזה, והרי נמצאים אלפים אלפים אברכים בגילו ועוד יותר מבוגרים ממנו הלומדים תורה בהתמדה ושקידה ומצליחים, וכמה מהם כבר נסתדרו בענינים של פרנסה לאחרי שלמדו תורה, והמפורסמות אין צריכות ראי', ותקותי שימצא מכירים שיסבירו כל האמור לאלו המדברים עמו ברוח אחרת, ויהי רצון שילמוד תורה בהתמדה ושקידה עד כדי ליגיעה ותקוים בו הבטחת תוה"ק יגעת ומצאת.
